Well, then. That was yet another commanding performance by South Africa. They have won 7 out of their last 8 ODIs batting first and by a margin of over 100 runs. The only one they lost is while chasing against the Netherlands earlier in this tournament. Courtesy to this victory, the Proteas have moved up to 2nd position in the table, with a superlative net run rate. The top three are now consolidating their positions for the second half of the league stage. And there will certainly be a scramble for that coveted fourth spot.

Quinton de Kock is certainly having the time of his life in ODI cricket. This is probably the best he has batted, at least when it comes to World Cup cricket. But we may not see him in ODIs for long. He has announced his retirement at the end of this World Cup. However, he is certainly having a spectacular last dance, isn't he?

Aiden Markram (South Africa captain): Another good day. Tough to grind it out there till the end. We believed we could take 10 wickets quickly, but sometimes things don't go that way. (On death bowling) Not necessarily, we find ourselves in two minds sometimes. One, you have got a new batter and one set batter. They have got their different plans. Especially to Mahmudullah, played well. We were not practising, but we were going death (bowling) to him. One or two that we missed, we got punished. But that's death bowling. If we get it wrong, it gets punished. Quinny (Quinton de Kock) tonight was super. Klassy (Heinrich Klaasen) came in and smashed it around. Each one has a different approach (in the batting lineup), gels nicely when you put it together. Can't take it anything for granted though. I wouldn't say (that we are a batting first side). We had a chat as a team about what would be prefered. Majority were chasers. More you win batting first, more you believe that we are a batting first team. That's not necessarily the case. If we win one chasing, it would be a blueprint. (On Temba Bavuma) He has improved, but was not 100 % for today. Hopefully he can recover well for Pakistan (game).

Shakib Al Hasan (Bangladesh captain): Yes, I thought we bowled first 25 overs well, we got three wickets and they were going about at 5rpo, from there on they kicked on and Quinton batted rally well and Klaasen finished it well and something we didn't have answer to it, we conceded 144 runs in the last 10 overs, probably the most expensive 10 overs we bowled in the last 10-15 years may be, can happen like that and we should've bowled batter and we lost the plot at the end. There's been a lot of talk, whether Mushfiq and Mahmudullah should bat higher up the order and it's just that they are doing their role well but the top four or five batters have not been getting runs, we can more out of them. They are one of the contenders for sure, at this time India, New Zealand South Africa are the three teams that can win the title but in a tournament like this, someone can pick up from the midle of it and end up winning the tournament. There are lot to be learnt, lot to play for. The Champions Trophy, you have to be in top 8, finish well and somewhere around five or six and we're not playing like a team that can do it, I'm still hopeful come back well and finish off the tournament on a high.

Quinton de Kock is the Player of the Match! Here's what he has to say: I think to be a bit more tired than satisfied, it was a great game and we all played well and nice to get two more points on board. (About his conversion rates) To be honest, I'm not too sure, first time it was an experience and it's just happening. It has been cool, bit nervous in the morning and came in gave a speech, some of the guys don't get nervous but it was a great day. Klaasen has been amazing, not sure what he's doing, but has been special this year for us, he has taken it by storm and very happy for him.

The fate of this run chase was sealed within the first 10 overs, if not earlier. Losing three wickets and scoring just 35 runs in the powerplay won't help you win games on most days. It certainly won't when you are chasing a mammoth 383 runs. To make matters worse, Bangladesh lost their fifth wicket before the end of 15th over with just 58 runs on the board.

With the outcome of the game more or less decided, the lower-order could have gone for their glory shots and withered away, but they stuck on. Mahmudullah played a top-class innings and the other lower-order batters batted around him. The South African bowlers continued to attack but the innings dragged on and it almost seemed that they will face the entire quota of 50 overs.

Mahmudullah put on 41 runs with Nasum Ahmed, 37 runs with Hasan Mahmud and 68 runs with Mustafizur Rahman. The last one, which was for the 10th wicket, turned out to be the highest partnership for the innings. Mahmudullah seemed like batting on a different surface compared to his teammates. He continued to middle the ball and play the pace attack with ease, hooking and pulling them to the cow corner fence.

The surface had something for the pacers early on. There was a zip off the pitch and a bit of late movement. But it was not a pitch worthy of a 58 for 5 start. Marco Jansen bowled excellent lines and kept asking questions early on, also picking a couple of wickets in the process. The application was lacking a bit from the top-order, which could have provided a bit more respectability to the total.

Gerald Coetzee was once again among the wickets. He was at his fiery best and kept banging it in. Lizaad Williams, who came in as a replacement for the injured Lungi Ngidi also played his part well with the new ball. And it has been five games in a row where each of the South African bowlers have picked a wicket. The skipper would be pretty happy with that performance.

46.4 Lizaad Williams to Mustafizur Rahman, OUT! MILES UP IN THE AIR AND TAKEN! Finally, South Africa have been able to wrap this up inside 50 overs and another annihilation and this time Bangladesh was the opposition! Banged in the short delivery, Fizz looks to pull and top edged it straight up. Miller comes sliding at backward point and pouches a good catch to seal the game.

46.3 Lizaad Williams to Mustafizur Rahman, back of a length over the stumps, Fizz backed away and has an almighty swing across the line, but misses.

46.2 Lizaad Williams to Shoriful Islam, length delivery on the off-stump, Shoriful gave himself some room, clears his front foot and whacked it past mid-off for a single.

46.1 Lizaad Williams to Shoriful Islam, FOUR! Bangladesh tail-enders continue to have fun here. Short on the fourth stump, Shoriful swings across and slashes it over backward point, runs away for another boundary.
