WWE SmackDown Live Preview: September 19, 2017

Kevin Owens crossed the line
Kevin Owens crossed the line

Kevin Owens shocked the WWE Universe last week with a brutal attack on Vince McMahon, but technically speaking, he was in the clear as the Boss himself had given him the green light to attack 'any McMahon' if provoked.

Try telling that to Shane, though.

How will the disgraced former Commissioner of SmackDown Live react to Kevin Owens' feral assault of his father? One guesses that there will be hell to pay.

In a non-McMahon related storyline, will Baron Corbin make the most of his US Title shot against AJ Styles after weeks of lobbying for an opportunity?

And what of the building tension between Shinsuke Nakamura and WWE Champion Jinder Mahal? The Modern Day Maharaja and his sidekicks picked on Nakamura's pictures last week, but will they have the same cavalier attitude when they're forced to deal with the real thing?

Find out as we comb through all of these points and more on our preview of this week's episode of SmackDown Live!

A Game Kevin Owens will not want to play

Will this angle lead to Triple H's return?
Will this angle lead to Triple H's return?

After Vince McMahon announced the Hell in a Cell match between Shane McMahon and Kevin Owens, the Prize Fighter resorted to the most despicable means possible to send a message: he viciously attacked a 73-year old, near-defenseless man.

And indefinitely suspended from commissioner duties though he may be, rest assured that Shane McMahon will not take kindly to that.

Expect him to come out thirsty for Kevin Owens blood and lay a beating on the Prize Fighter.

And considering that Stephanie McMahon made a rare appearance to escort her father backstage after the beatdown, don't be surprised if other members of the McMahon family —namely Triple H — tags along with him either.

Imagine a 48-year-old Triple H destroying Kevin Owens and setting up a future match in the proce

Celebration of Women

Natalya reasserts herself over the SmackDown Live Women's division
Natalya reasserts herself over the SmackDown Live Women's division

Fresh off another affirming victory over Naomi to retain her SmackDown Live Women's Championship, Natalya is in the mood for festivities.

So much so that the Queen of Harts has organised a 'Celebration of Women' which, in reality, probably means that she's going to stand in the middle of the ring and glorify herself.

So, will Carmella — who's been threatening to cash in her MITB briefcase — have something to say about it?

Or will Charlotte Flair make a return to the fold of things in the SD Live Women's division after being called away to tend to her ailing father these past few weeks?

A New Day, yes it is!

The New Day rose above the challenge of the Usos
The New Day rose above the challenge of the Usos

The Usos may have chosen the stipulation when they put their SmackDown Live Tag Championships on the line against the New Day last week, but the outcome certainly wasn't in their favour.

The New Day revelled in the chaos of the Sin City Streetfight and managed to wrest the Titles away from the twins to become 4-time Tag Champions in the WWE.

While they put their feet up to celebrate their victory this week, will the Usos be looking to play party-pooper?

After all, they do have a rematch clause up their sleeves should they wish to cash it in.

The Artist's reply

They can laugh at the screen...but can they laugh at the man?
They can laugh at the screen...but can they laugh at the man?

It's one thing picking on Shinsuke Nakamura's expressions on the Titantron and making fun of them when the man himself isn't there...but it's quite another trying to do it with a knee flying at your face.

While Jinder Mahal and his cowardly entourage seem to be comfortable with doing the former, will they have the grapefruits to replicate their antics in front of the Artist's face?

For his part, how will Shinsuke Nakamura reply to the personal attacks made on him by the WWE Champion and his sidekicks last week on SmackDown Live?

A tumultuous confrontation awaits.

Will Baron Corbin deliver?

Who will emerge victorious?
Who will emerge victorious?

Baron Corbin is a foul individual. He's got a humongous chip on his shoulder, a terrible temper and he isn't afraid to show it.

Apart from attacking AJ Styles and Tye Dillinger last week, to clearly signal his intentions on the US Championship, he's been involving himself in the Champion's business for a few weeks on the run now.

But when finally presented with an opportunity, will the Lone Wolf be able to walk the walk against, arguably, the best in-ring worker in the world today?

Or will he, like countless others before him, once again prove the theory that the empty vessel makes the most noise?
