WWE SmackDown this week is happening at an inauspicious time. As excited as we are about the upcoming show, the hype is marred by the news of talented young men and women losing their jobs.

Let's brush that aside for a moment and talk about the next WWE SmackDown episode. Here are five surprises that could happen that could significantly make the show even bigger. Maybe that's just what the doctor ordered to help us focus on the show and not what's happening behind the scenes.

Please do feel free to share your thoughts and views in the comments. And yes, if you wish to suggest a few surprises, do not hesitate at all.

Let's just reiterate that this is a fantasy booking article so there's no guarantee that these surprises will happen.

#5 Big E shows up at WWE SmackDown and the Survivor Series build begins

Over the past few weeks, we've been seeing celebration segments on WWE SmackDown. Feel-good segments between Kofi Kingston and King of the Ring, Xavier Woods. If there's a piece missing from the puzzle, it is Big E.

Imagine if he shows up to the party on this week's WWE SmackDown. But instead of joining in the celebrations, he beats up both of his teammates! And thus, the road to Survivor Series, the battle for brand supremacy will truly get underway.

This may officially be the end of The New Day, which may make sense because the three men are on such different paths career-wise. Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston are clearly aiming for the WWE SmackDown Tag Team Championships right now.

Meanwhile, Big E has unfinished business with Seth Rollins. And from the looks of it, Kevin Owens as well.

Is it too premature to end the faction?

#4 For the benefit of the WWE SmackDown team, Shotzi teams up with her worst enemy

Did you check out the WWE SmackDown kerfuffle between Sasha Banks and Shotzi last week, where the latter seemingly turned heel? Well, circumstances make for unexpected bedfellows, which may be the case when the SmackDown Women's Survivor Series team needs to be decided.

Could the team leader recruit both women to be a part of the WWE SmackDown squad? Or in an even more dramatic twist, could The Boss be forced to align with Shotzi?

#3 Jeff Hardy shows up to tango with Roman Reigns

Jeff Hardy has made it known that Roman Reigns is in his crosshairs. Could he appear on the Blue brand this week with only one thing in mind - the Universal Championship?

Hardy vs. Reigns is not a route we've yet gone down and yes, the two men have been booked very differently! That said, The Charismatic Enigma is an all-time legend and has been the ultimate underdog throughout his career. He almost always invariably stands a chance!

#2 Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair renew their real-life rivalry

The WWE SmackDown Women's Champion could be in for a nasty surprise on this week's show. When Charlotte Flair potentially shows up to cut a promo, Becky Lynch could interrupt the proceedings.

What better way than a sneak attack to set the stage for Team RAW vs. Team SmackDown at Survivor Series?

#1 Omos runs through the WWE SmackDown roster

There is perhaps nobody more destructive on WWE SmackDown or RAW than Omos. The big man could show up on the Blue brand and steamroll through the entire roster, begging the question, who can put him down?

Omos has been portrayed as a force of nature against top stars like Randy Orton and Bobby Lashley. It wouldn't take much to have him run through a pile of bodies and put Team SmackDown on the back foot heading into Survivor Series.

In turn, WWE SmackDown may have to unleash someone from their own roster like Mace to counter this massive threat. The result could be quite entertaining indeed.
