WWE SmackDown: 5 Major surprises that may happen - Change in character for Alexa Bliss, RAW star attacks current Champion

Alexa Bliss could tap into the dark side of her personality
Alexa Bliss could tap into the dark side of her personality

WWE SmackDown had a great showing at Extreme Rules, with Bayley retaining her Championship against Nikki Cross and with Cesaro and Shinsuke Nakamura dethroning The New Day to become the brand new WWE SmackDown Tag Team Champions.

However, will the company be able to carry the momentum into the weekly product and dish out an episode of WWE SmackDown that gets us all geared up and hyped about SummerSlam?

They can certainly do so with a whole bunch of surprises on this week's edition of WWE SmackDown, and I want you to share your thoughts about the surprises I have suggested in the comments below.

#5 Alexa Bliss channels her dark side on WWE SmackDown, allying herself with Bray Wyatt

If you visited WWE SmackDown superstar Alexa Bliss' social media account recently, you'll have seen how many pictures she has retweeted of her cameo at the Wyatt Swamp Fight, where she portrayed Sister Abigail.

There has to be something more to the whole thing and Alexa Bliss could certainly get involved in the whole Bray Wyatt vs. Braun Strowman feud on WWE SmackDown very soon indeed. Unfortunately for the WWE Universal Champion, she may tap into her dark side and choose to side with The Eater of Worlds.

And we could have the perfect transformation for her as well, where The Goddess ends up becoming the Dark Goddess. Alexa Bliss has been known for her cosplay in previous editions of WWE SmackDown and it freshens up her character quite significantly indeed.

Let's be honest- a coffee addict gimmick does not do much for someone who has so much to offer to the world as she does, and looks like a million bucks as well, so this could be the perfect character change.

#4 Kairi Sane shows up on WWE SmackDown to confront Bayley for a big match

A report from Fightful Select states that this past week's episode of WWE RAW wasn't the last time we saw Kairi Sane in the company, meaning that it would not be very surprising indeed if she did show up on WWE SmackDown this week. In fact, Vatsal Rathod sums up the report in this manner:

The report also mentions that WWE has made efforts to retain Kairi Sane and have pitched several ideas to keep her with them in some capacity. More specifically, WWE wants to keep her away from other companies and wrestling promotions. The ideas being pitched included her returning to Japan to work as an ambassador or trainer for WWE.

Considering that Kairi Sane has a victory over the WWE SmackDown Women's Champion, it is very likely indeed that she could attack Bayley on this week's broadcast and challenge the Champion to a match. It is very unlikely that there will be a title change unless the plan to retain her is to put the WWE SmackDown Women's Championship on her.

#3 Miz and Morrison help Sheamus win his bar fight against Jeff Hardy on WWE SmackDown

We saw how a faction was formed under the able guidance of MVP, with Bobby Lashley and Shelton Benjamin. The same could happen on WWE SmackDown as well with Sheamus leading Miz and Morrison into battle very soon.

What we do know is that Sheamus and Jeff Hardy will throw it down in a bar fight on WWE SmackDown this week and if you've ever been in a real bar fight, you know that bystanders tend to get involved in the proceedings when fists begin to fly.

Considering that there is already a relationship between Miz, Morrison, and Sheamus with The Miz trying to get into Jeff Hardy's head before his fight with Sheamus, I would say that it is all too likely for these two gentlemen to show up during the match. And yes, a heel stable may be formed shortly after that, with Sheamus at the helm with Miz and Morrison as his two foot-soldiers on WWE SmackDown.

#2 Heavy Machinery show up to confront Cesaro and Shinsuke Nakamura for the WWE SmackDown Tag Team Championships

Otis has been off television probably because of exposure to Mandy Rose, who went on a boating trip not very long ago but they should be coming back very soon indeed. And because it seems like Braun Strowman and Bray Wyatt are far from done with one another on WWE SmackDown, it won't make sense to have Otis cash in at this point in time. The best way to keep him occupied is to have Heavy Machinery show up and challenge Cesaro and Shinsuke Nakamura for the WWE SmackDown Tag Team Championships.

It will also be interesting to see if Sonya Deville maybe aligns herself with the heels while Mandy Rose teams up with the babyfaces on WWE SmackDown to keep the feud interesting and intriguing.

It makes sense for Otis to cash in his contract once the crowds are back in the stands once again and until then, he can mix it up with two of the best in the business on WWE SmackDown.

#1 Kofi Kingston enters the singles division once again on WWE SmackDown

Kofi Kingston was on fire once upon a time when the crowd urged the creative team to put the WWE Championship around his waist. Since then, he has been a prominent fixture on WWE SmackDown but has never been able to regain the same level of success as he once did ever since.

Now that he is no longer the WWE SmackDown Tag Team Champion, he can certainly mix it up with the Intercontinental Champion, AJ Styles in a variety of exciting matches. But the best part is that so can Big E, who has always been hailed as a star with a lot of promise but never given the right opportunities.

Some time away from the WWE SmackDown Tag Team Championship picture may actually be a good thing for The New Day. Cesaro and Shinsuke Nakamura can carry the division on their sturdy backs with Heavy Machinery.

What do you guys think the WWE SmackDown side of things will look like, at the SummerSlam 2020 pay-per-view?
