What’s the story?
The WWE has made a huge announcement pertaining to its upcoming ‘Starrcade’ house show, revealing the return of former WCW and JCP announcer Tony Schiavone.
Schiavone can be seen delivering an old-school WCW Control Center promo ahead of WWE Starrcade.
In case you didn’t know…
Tony Schiavone was an integral part of WCW and JCP (Jimmy Crockett Promotions), and was widely considered the voice of WCW.
Schiavone, the veteran announcer, is perhaps best remembered by Attitude Era fans for his stinging Control Center promos for WCW.
The heart of the matter
As we had previously reported, the WWE is set to bring back the WCW PPV Starrcade, however, the Vince McMahon-helmed promotion isn’t presenting the iconic WCW show as a pay-per-view but rather as a house show.
WWE Starrcade will be headlined by a WWE Championship match between Jinder Mahal and Shinsuke Nakamura inside a Steel Cage. The company is seemingly pulling out all the stops ahead of the live event in November, by roping in the services of Tony Schiavone for the same.
Schiavone -- one of the most recognizable personalities in WCW -- is reportedly promoting Starrcade 2017 (a WWE return after nearly 27 years), replete with his vintage Control Center promo. Below is the updated card for the live event:
#1 Jinder Mahal (c) vs. Shinsuke Nakamura in a Steel Cage match for the WWE title
#2 Natalya (c) vs. Charlotte Flair in a Steel Cage match for the SmackDown Women’s championship
#3 AJ Styles vs. Baron Corbin (c) vs. Rusev in a Triple Threat for the United States title
#4 The New Day vs. The Usos (c) in a Texas Tornado match for the SmackDown Tag Team championship

Furthermore, Starrcade also features appearances from Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat, The Rock ‘n’ Roll Express and the Hardy Boyz.

Well, I for one am hyped for Starrcade. Who wouldn’t!
The WWE is utilising excellent strategy by promoting the famous WCW presentation and playing on its nostalgia value by bringing back Tony Schiavone and the WCW Control Center.
