Daniel Bryan will face Rusev for an opportunity to qualify for the Money in the Bank ladder match

What's the story?

Three qualifying matches have been announced for tonight's episode of SmackDown Live: Daniel Bryan vs. Rusev, The Miz vs. Jeff Hardy and Charlotte vs. Peyton Royce.

In case you didn't know...

On the most recent episode of Monday Night Raw, Braun Strowman and Finn Balor qualified for the men's Money in the Bank ladder match while Ember Moon made the cut for the women's match. Each of the ladder matches will feature eight competitors, who will be determined in the subsequent weeks.

The heart of the matter

At Backlash, Big Cass unleashed a vicious post-match assault on Daniel Bryan, minutes after submitting to the former WWE Champion. Expect Enzo Amore's former tag-team partner to potentially interfere and cost Bryan his match with Rusev.

Since Jeff Hardy usually thrives in any contest which involves ladders, it's difficult to envision a scenario where he doesn't end up as part of the Money in the Bank ladder match.

As for Charlotte, she may not win her qualifying match against Peyton Royce since there aren't too many other Superstars on SmackDown who can work with Carmella.

What's next?

The Money in the Bank pay-per-view will take place at the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois, on June 17, 2018.

Author's take

All of the six competitors involved in these qualifying matches would be competent Money in the Bank contract holders. However, this writer would love to see Finn Balor and Bayley leave the Allstate Arena with briefcases in hand.
