WWE Hell in a Cell - Best & Worst:  Major shot at Michael Cole, Big botch live on air, Massive mistake with Drew McIntyre

Unfortunately, Hell in a Cell wasn't a very good pay-per-view
Unfortunately, Hell in a Cell wasn't a very good pay-per-view

Something about WWE Hell in a Cell just felt a little off. Maybe it was the fact that some of the finishes did not make sense or that there were absolutely no surprises, but overall, WWE Hell in a Cell just massively failed to deliver.

There were high points for sure, but all the air was sucked out of the pay-per-view when WWE took Roman Reigns off the card. None of the other feuds felt personal enough to warrant a Hell in a Cell match because of the lack of genuine storyline heat.

One must assume that the company wanted to coast through WWE Hell in a Cell without much fanfare, setting the stage for when WWE is back on the road again. If this is indeed the case, it will be quite some time before the product is as much fun as it used to be.

If you felt otherwise about WWE Hell in a Cell, do share your views in the comments section of the article by all means.

#1 Best: WWE Hell in a Cell kicks off with a banger

Bianca Belair and Bayley probably had the best match at WWE Hell in a Cell this year. It was probably not as good as the Bayley vs. Sasha Banks match last year, but it was still pretty great.

The only issue with a match that good is that the show goes downhill from there. If this match had ended the WWE Hell in a Cell pay-per-view, there would have been no complaints from fans.

Where does Bianca Belair go from here? Could Sasha Banks return after WWE Hell in a Cell for the rematch she is owed? Could Carmella or Liv Morgan ascend a level or two in the SmackDown hierarchy?

By the way, did anyone catch Bayley asking Michael Cole to shut up? How hilarious was that?!

#2 Worst: Unbelievable botch at WWE Hell in a Cell + a terrible finish

While the author did not notice this WWE Hell in a Cell botch while the show was on, it would soon surface online. Unfortunately, it was not Charlotte Flair's best outing. Also, it was strange of Rhea Ripley to retain her title via DQ and still celebrate like it was the best feeling in the world.

No babyface behaves like that, and one wonders if Rhea Ripley is headed towards a heel turn, with Nikki Cross potentially entering the title picture.

#2 Best: Sami Zayn ends a long-standing streak

Special thanks to veteran journalist Sean Ross Sapp for the statistic. Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn gave it their all at WWE Hell in a Cell and put on a show for the ages. What made the match even sweeter, however, is that Zayn won the contest.

And it's been a while since he had his last big win. One has to hope that the victory catapults Zayn to the next level. That is if this feud is done and dusted.

#3 Worst: The WWE Hell in a Cell main event match's outcome

The WWE Hell in a Cell main event match started with a real bang as Bobby Lashley and Drew McIntyre went to war. But there's no better way to ruin a Hell in a Cell match than with a distraction roll-up.

It's a shame that the men and women of WWE put their lives on the line on every occasion, but the creative team lets them down in this manner.

#3 Best/Worst: Everything with Alexa Bliss

WWE made the wise decision at WWE Hell in a Cell to have Alexa Bliss look dominant during her match with Shayna Baszler. Yes, Baszler is a killer and an MMA practitioner, but obviously, Alexa Bliss has powers from beyond this realm.

That said, some of the stuff with Nia Jax and Reginald came across as a bit over-the-top. Shayna Baszler does not need to have Reginald kiss her hand, and honestly, someone else could have been chosen to take the pin in this particular contest.
