There has been some major backstage upheaval regarding numerous WWE talents and how they have been treated as of late. Unhappy superstars such as Dean Ambrose, Sasha Banks, and The Revival are the latest examples of stars wanting to quit the company simply because they do not have the backing of Vince McMahon and Kevin Dunn for various reasons.

The trend of hiring mostly independent wrestlers actually began in the summer of 2012 when Triple H took over for John Laurinaitis.

In addition, Triple H and Stephanie McMahon were also largely responsible for the Women's Evolution which allowed for WWE's female talents to have longer matches as well as compete in stipulations that were previously reserved for male Superstars, such as the Royal Rumble match, the Elimination Chamber match, the Money in the Bank ladder match, among others, while discontinuing Divas Era stipulations such as bra-and-panties matches, pillow fights, and bikini contests.

The problem is that the WWE has way too many talents on the main roster and with numerous talents from NXT being promoted to the main roster in the last few years, there is little time aside for many of these performers, and they are often being either demoted to appearing on WWE Main Event, competing in pre-show dark matches, or just not being used.

The logical solution is for the WWE to release several talents, but the problem is that Vince McMahon seemingly sees AEW as serious competition, much like WCW was back in the day, and doesn't want his talents to join a rival promotion.

In addition, WWE now prefers to let talents' contracts expire rather than make a publicized release, in order to avoid mad publicity for a company that is seen as a job creator.

As for which WWE Superstars who I think need to be let go, here they are:

* Asuka (Very popular with the WWE Universe but seemingly doesn't have the backing of Vince McMahon and Dunn)

* Alicia Fox (Used to be one of the top Divas but does not fit in the current women's division)

* Epico and Primo

* The Ascension

* Heath Slater

* Luke Harper (reportedly requested his release)

* No Way Jose

By releasing these talents and several other underutilized talents, WWE will have a much better but not overloaded roster. But will it happen? Only time will tell.
