The past seven days have seen more verbal jousting and revelations on social media, with stars of the pro wrestling world taking to Twitter to make their voices heard amidst TV story lines and real life drama.

Before we dive into this week's top 5 social media moments, let's take a look at a runner up comment which made waves in the pro wrestling industry.

Bray Wyatt is targeting Sting

In a fantasy matchup for the ages, The Fiend admitted on Twitter that Sting would be an ideal target for his next WWE legend attack on TV.

Sting is officially retired from in-ring competition in WWE, making a match against The Fiend almost impossible. However, as for a possible one-off appearance from the WWE Hall of Famer which leads to the Mandible Claw from The Fiend, that seems like it could be a possible angle, however unlikely.

#5 Becky Lynch disses Sasha Banks' promo skills

Becky Lynch was all smiles this week as she surprised the pro wrestling world with the news that she and Seth Rollins are engaged, meaning WWE's top power couple will soon be husband and wife.

But the engagement to Rollins has not derailed The Man on Twitter, as she took to the social media platform during Raw this week to react to Sasha Banks' "worked shoot" style promo, which saw The Boss finally explain her actions since returning to WWE TV.

Lynch seemed to echo some of the sentiments from fans online that Banks' promo on Raw this week was not one of her best, and in an earlier article, I analyzed why the Banks promo was actually a big mistake.

Whether you did or did not like Sasha Banks' promo on Raw this week, things are certainly going to heat up between the two Raw stars heading into Clash of Champions.

#4 Cody Rhodes shoots on Stardust

Cody Rhodes is gearing up for this weekend's big All Out PPV, which is All Elite Wrestling's highly-anticipated follow-up to last year's All In PPV.

But before Cody steps into the ring this weekend to face Shawn Spears, another former WWE star, he took to Twitter to address a fan comment relating to Stardust, a polarizing character Rhodes played during his time in WWE.

When a fan on Twitter pondered why Vince McMahon did not understand that Stardust was a bad gimmick idea, Cody was quick to point out that he blamed himself for the failure of the character, not Vince.

"I don’t really blame him more than I blame myself. I worked hard, but at the time...not hard enough. To go from undesirable to undeniable took a lot sacrifices, reality checks, & most importantly I had to do the damn work. I don’t want to be anything less than the guy at the top."

#3 Brandi Rhodes is not happy with AEW fans

Last week, All Elite Wrestling dropped a Tweet asking fans if Brandi Rhodes could become the first-ever AEW Women's Champion, and it garnered what was likely a very unexpected response.

Fans on Twitter doused the Tweet with responses aimed at Brandi's perceived lack of pro wrestling ability, and were none-too-thrilled with the prospect of Rhodes becoming the inaugural AEW Women's Champ.

Brandi Rhodes had a very succinct way of responding to the fan backlash as she bluntly stated, "I hate you guys too."

It will be interesting to see how the women's title situation plays out given the harsh response to the prospect of Brandi Rhodes, who is the Chief Branding Officer of All Elite Wrestling, winning the Women's title.

Some fans are likening the situation to The Authority in WWE, in which talents like Triple H and Stephanie McMahon book themselves in high profile spots because they have backstage power, but only time will tell if AEW decides to go in a different direction.

#2 Y2J vs William Regal

Chris Jericho
Chris Jericho

Chris Jericho is a master social media manipulator, oftentimes working fans via Twitter and Instagram and posting cryptic comments which lead to tremendous speculation and fan guessing.

Last week it was announced that WWE NXT will officially compete head-to-head against All Elite Wrestling this fall when both shows air on Wednesday nights from 8pm - 10pm EST on USA Network and TNT, respectively.

Following news of NXT's move to USA, Chris Jericho took to Twitter and seemed to take credit for the evolution of the WWE brand.

One name who is not particularly fond of Jericho's comments is NXT General Manager William Regal, as he Tweeted the following sarcastic comment in response to Jericho taking credit for being an "industry changer."

Who do you side with in one of the first shots fired across brands in the budding WWE vs AEW war? Does Jericho have a point, or is Regal right to put Y2J in his proverbial "place"?

#1 WWE stars tease leaving the company

Kalisto
Kalisto

WWE star Kalisto turned heads this week when he revealed on Twitter that he will be a free agent in 10 months, as his WWE contract will be coming to an end.

The WWE 205 Live star then deleted the Tweet, possibly realizing that it was unwise for the Superstar to reveal contract details online. However, before Kalisto had the opportunity to remove the Tweet, fellow WWE star Braun Strowman was able to respond, casting aside Kalisto's comment by simply Tweeting, "adios."

Kalisto is not the only WWE star who has a contract expiring soon, as fellow Lucha House Party member Gran Metalik also issued a Tweet noting his contract is up in 10 months time.

As of this writing, there is no word on whether or not either Kalisto or Metalik will be re-signing with WWE, but with AEW gearing up for its debut on TNT in the fall, it's likely WWE will make a play to re-sign both Superstars to keep them from jumping ship to AEW.
