Triple H might be preparing to book the return of a popular superstar.

WWE is spoilt for choice regarding the number of top stars at its disposal; however, one former world champion has been on the sidelines for unforeseen reasons. We're talking about Drew McIntyre, who, thankfully enough, is now reportedly ready to make his WWE return.

McIntyre has not appeared on TV since WrestleMania 39, as the Scottish Warrior and WWE have been engaged in talks over his contractual status.

Reports suggested that Drew was unhappy with his current position, and there was even speculation about him possibly leaving the company.

The situation has changed, however, as WWE seems to have ironed out the creative issues with the superstar. As reported by Dave Meltzer, Drew McIntyre's injury also isn't a problem anymore, as he's currently on standby to make a long-awaited WWE comeback.

It was even speculated that McIntyre could be a realistic candidate to be Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens' mystery partner when they face Imperium on RAW. Here's the latest on the 2-time world champion's status from Wrestling Observer Radio:

"I know, obviously, right now, the last I heard, which was just a couple of days ago, was that he is just ready for, waiting for him and creative to agree on the situation. The injury situation is pretty much; I mean, I can't say a 100%. It's cleared up today, but I was told that the basic gist is that he is ready to come back. Now, I wasn't told he is ready to come back Monday. I was told he is ready to come back soon enough, and you know, he wants everything and creative and done."

Could WWE freeze Drew McIntyre's contract?

It's been nearly seven weeks since fans last saw McIntyre in action, with rumors of his potential exit from WWE being a topic of debate online.

As noted, the promotion can freeze his contract and add on the time Drew missed to ensure he stays longer. However, both sides have not agreed to a new deal, and there is every possibility that he will depart the promotion at the end of the year.

Drew McIntyre will undoubtedly be a massive asset for AEW if they sign him, but Triple H's team will surely not let him go so easily and will try their best to convince him to extend his tenure.

With Seth Rollins being the favorite to become the World Heavyweight Champion, a feud against a heel McIntyre has been one of the ideas discussed behind the scenes.
