Asuka will return to the ring for the first time since WrestleMania 39 and face Zelina Vega on WWE SmackDown.

The Empress of Tomorrow was absent on television since losing to Bianca Belair at The Show of Shows. She returned last week to ruin Belair's homecoming by spraying her with her patented blue mist, which had some additional spice.

Meanwhile, Vega is coming off a failed challenge on Rhea Ripley's SmackDown Women's Championship at Backlash. She's looking for another opportunity to get back into title contention.

As announced by WWE on Twitter, Asuka will take on Vega on SmackDown tonight from the Colonial Life Arena in Columbia, South Carolina. It will also be Asuka's first match on SmackDown since February 17, when she defeated Liv Morgan.

WWE is also expected to hold double tapings on tonight's SmackDown. They will film next week's go-home edition of the blue brand ahead of Night of Champions in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. It's a logistical move to lighten the load and prevent problems heading into the May 27th Premium Live Event.

Asuka is set to face Bianca Belair for Raw Women's Championship at WWE Night of Champions

WWE announced on Thursday that Bianca Belair will defend her Raw Women's Championship at Night of Champions against Asuka. It will be a WrestleMania 39 rematch, with Belair looking to continue her 400-plus day reign as champion.

Meanwhile, Asuka will try to redeem herself after losing cleanly at WrestleMania 39. An attitude change could be what she needs following her change in persona back in the Royal Rumble.

The former RAW and SmackDown Women's Champion showed up to Belair's homecoming in Tennessee last week. She sprayed the champion with blue mist with some kick, leaving the fighting champion screaming in pain.

It will be interesting to see if Belair would get her hands on Asuka before their rematch at Night of Champions.
