From the WWE Rumor Mill: Huge match for WrestleMania 35 possibly revealed

WWE has big plans for WrestleMania 35

What’s the story?

Per The Wrestling Observer, a huge match that could take place at WrestleMania 35 next year has likely been revealed.

Apparently, the WWE plans on having Ronda Rousey face Asuka in a marquee matchup at next year’s WrestleMania.

In case you didn’t know…

The WWE generally books a select few key matches—particularly prominent showdowns on its “Big 4” PPVs (Royal Rumble, WrestleMania, SummerSlam, and Survivor Series)—months prior to the event.

This strategy has often garnered WWE considerable publicity, especially given the debates and discussions the rumoured matchups create, owing to the prospect of having fantasy matchups come to fruition.

For instance, the upcoming WrestleMania 34 Universal title match between Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar had been rumoured ever since mid-2017—with said matchup recently being confirmed after Reigns’ victory at the Elimination Chamber PPV earlier this year.

The heart of the matter

As noted by veteran professional wrestling journalist Bryan Alvarez on a recent edition of the Wrestling Observer Live, “Rowdy” Ronda Rousey could face Asuka at next year’s edition of WrestleMania.

As of this time, the belief is that Asuka is set to defeat Charlotte Flair for the latter’s SmackDown Women’s Championship at WrestleMania 34, and remain undefeated heading into WrestleMania 35 next year.

Meanwhile, the plan is for Ronda Rousey to also be undefeated in the WWE, heading into her clash with Asuka at ‘Mania 35.

Furthermore, it’s possible that the WWE hypes next year’s showdown between Rousey and Asuka as a “Streak vs Streak Match” to take place on “The Grandest Stage of Them All”—WrestleMania.

What’s next?

Presently, Ronda Rousey and Kurt Angle are set to compete against Stephanie McMahon & Triple H in a Mixed Tag Team Match at WrestleMania 34.

Also on the card, Asuka is set to face WWE SmackDown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair for the latter’s title.

Author’s take

Honestly speaking, the WWE seem to have an excellent plan in place for having the two most dominant figures in Women’s Wrestling today, face each other at the Showcase of the Immortals next year.
