What’s the story?
Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter has recently reported that former WWE superstar Emma has been in talks with Japanese promotion World Wonder Ring Stardom.
However, Emma’s negotiations to work with the company have now seemed fallen apart due to her demands and it seems unlikely that the Joshi Puroresu promotion is going to offer the Aussie superstar any sort of contract in the near future.
In case you didn’t know…
Emma is a former WWE superstar who was part of the Raw Women’s division and was first signed by the WWE in 2011 as part of their developmental territory of Florida Championship Wrestling.
She was part of the WWE for well over five years before being eventually released earlier this year along with Summer Rae and Darren Young.
The heart of the matter
It has been reported that Emma, who will now go by her real name of Tenille Dashwood in the Independent scene, was recently in talks of signing a contract with top Japanese Joshi Puroresu/Women’s professional wrestling promotion, Stardom.
It seemed like Emma would have signed a contract with Stardom right after her no-compete clause ended, but negotiations have now ended between the two parties after Emma asked the promotion to pay her $2,000 per match.
Along with that Emma also demanded first-class tickets and full creative control but it seems like Stardom are not willing to co-operate in the deal with the former NXT superstar, due to it not being economical enough.
What’s next?
Since leaving WWE, Emma hasn’t wrestled for any promotions, but she has announced on her official Twitter that she will start taking Independent bookings from now on.
However, it's unsure if we will get to see Emma wrestle at Stardom for now but there is always a chance that she might change her mind regarding the deal and could eventually sign with the promotion in the future.
Author’s Take
In my opinion, I believe that Emma’s demands are a little too much for a promotion like Stardom, who are just starting to grow and make a name in the professional wrestling world.
The company already consist a lot of superstars through the likes of Io Shirai, Kris Wolf, Mayu Iwatani, Mae Young Classic contestants Toni Storm and Viper and much more. I believe that Emma will also perfectly fit in Stardom and hopefully, we do get to see her wrestle for the company in the future.
