5 Reasons WWE Must Cancel The Undertaker Versus Triple H Storyline

Undertaker, Triple H,
Should WWE continue to do this Undertaker storyline?

Let's be honest here.

As nostalgic as it was to see The Undertaker step back into the ring to take on Triple H for the last time it, that nostalgia quickly dissipated once the bell rang and the actual match took place. Unfortunately for The Undertaker, Triple H and the fans, the match was a mess, everyone involved looked exhausted and it seemed to achieve no purpose.

Beyond that, everyone seemed severely limited in what they could do, which only made things harder to watch. With that being said and rumours circulating that WWE wants to continue the storyline at Survivor Series, one has to wonder if that is even a good idea at this point.

Sure, the match, which is believed to be The Brothers of Destruction versus Triple H and Shawn Michaels, seems like a great way to encompass The Undertaker into the Crown Jewel pay per view, but not if it's going to be anything like what happened in Melbourne at Super Showdown.

In the end, here are five reasons WWE needs to nix The Undertaker versus Triple H storyline.

#5 Lack of fan interest

WWE Universe, WWE,
The WWE Universe doesn't seem to be into this storyline at all.

Believe it or not, there really isn't a lot of fan interest in this storyline right now and while that could change if the right incentive was introduced, does it really deserve the time to do so? While that answer might vary from person to person, the low ratings the last couple of weeks on Raw and the lacklustre match at MCG, point to it not deserving that time to develop

Maybe if the match was better then answer would be different, but pretty much everyone agreed it was an absolute mess and those that didn't were too blinded by nostalgia to know any better. In the end, if Michaels, Taker, Triple H and Kane could go like they used to, it wouldn't be so bad, but watching them wrestle as shells of themselves isn't much fun to see.

#4 Holding other superstars back

Finn Balor, WWE,
Should WWE scrap this angle and give superstars like Finn Balor more chances?

Another problem with continuing the storyline between Shawn Michaels and The Undertaker is that it actively takes away opportunities from younger superstars hoping to make a name for themselves on Raw. It also has taken away time from other superstar's storylines, which is hurting the overall product.

Then there's the fact that the storyline doesn't seem to benefit anyone and doesn't involve younger superstars, which really makes it even more meaningless than what it already is. In the end, this storyline is keeping superstars like Ember Moon, Bayley, Finn Balor, Bobby Roode and others off the television and its bad for business.

#3 Hurts Shawn Michaels legacy

Shawn Michaels, WWE,
Will another match hurt Shawn Michaels legacy?

Shawn Michaels didn't even compete in a match at Super Showdown and he looked worn out after only taking a couple of bumps. Maybe that's to be expected since Shawn Michaels has been retired for years now, but his actions seemed particularly sluggish throughout the match

Another problem is what the match and future matches will do to the overall legacy of Shawn Michaels. If nothing else, his performance, even in the limited role he played, was a disaster to see and not anything like Michaels golden years. In the end, its just going to get worse the more WWE tries to drag this out and it's not going to end well either.

Lastly, there's the fact that Shawn Michaels is said to be coming out of retirement for one more match, which is disrespectful to the match he had with The Undertaker at WrestleMania 28. It is also distressful to all the other superstars that have lost retirement matches and have stayed retired to this day.

#2 Undertaker and Shawn Michaels health

Shawn Michaels, The Undertaker,
At some point, Undertaker and Shawn Michaels are going to have to think about their health.

Time to be honest again.

Undertaker and Shawn Michaels aren't young men anymore and they are going to get seriously hurt if something happens inside the ring during this feud. Add to that the laundry list of injuries that The Undertaker and Shawn Michael's have suffered throughout their career and you'll realize that WWE is playing a very dangerous game.

Sure, it's nostalgic! It's something that WWE hasn't done in a while and blurs the lines between fiction and reality, but it can't be backed up in the ring. Furthermore, any attempt to try to back up this storyline in the ring is most likely going to result in getting gassed, botching moves and injuring themselves, which could have very severe consequences.

#1 The Undertaker's legacy

The Undertaker, WWE,
The Undertaker needs to retire for the sake of his legacy!

At the end of the day, its all about legacy.

Unfortunately for The Undertaker, his legacy has been bogged down quite a bit over the last couple of years and his recent string of matches isn't helping things at all. In fact, his match against Triple H at Super Showdown was probably Taker's worst match in years and it accomplished nothing!

With that being said, that's no way to continue the legacy of one of the most decorated stars in all of sports entertainment and WWE should be ashamed of themselves for even attempting it. In the end, it hurt Undertaker's legacy to have this match and so will any other match he has in the future.

In all honesty, he just can't go anymore and he shouldn't even be expected to. The man is in his 50s, is still nursing life to change injuries and shouldn't be put in a situation where he can accumulate more. Maybe WWE will hopefully learn the error of their ways and never do another Undertaker match again, but WWE might feel content to just beat a dead horse.
