5 matches rumoured for Wrestlemania 35

Could anyone of these matches actually be on the Wrestlemania card?
Could anyone of these matches actually be on the Wrestlemania card?

WrestleMania may not be the same blockbuster show that guaranteed that same quality entertainment many of you grew up with; however, no one can deny that WrestleMania is so embedded in pop culture that it's hard to imagine any other wrestling event trying to top the spectacle of the showcase of the immortals. From classic moments to unforgettable twists, there is one thing that ensures the success of a Wrestlemania, and that is its match card.

Over the years, WWE has put together a spectacular card for their biggest pay-per-view of the year, as dream matches, highly contested barnburners, and World Title contests have been offered at the request of the fans.

We are just more than a month away from the event and the speculation regarding the matches at Wrestlemania is starting to take shape. Some of the rumours have been swirling around for a year while others have popped up in the recent weeks. While some of these might be pure speculation by the wrestling world, others seem a bit legitimate. So let us go through each rumoured match for WrestleMania.

#1 Shane McMahon vs The Miz

This narrative has to conclude at some point.
This narrative has to conclude at some point.

The WWE Universe may have many complaints when it comes to WWE's handling of their storylines, superstars and match cards, but the one thing every fan tends to agree most of the time is that Smackdown Live is a quality wrestling show. From AJ Styles owning the main event to legends like Randy Orton keeping the mid-card on lockdown; Smackdown Live is in good hands.

Furthermore, the fact that WWE's deal with FOX will see Smackdown become the most important show in WWE, raises the excitement levels amongst the fans immensely, as everyone is eagerly waiting to what's coming. But if there is one feud on Smackdown Live that is truly the black sheep of its narratives, it's the monotonous angle that involves The Miz and Shane McMahon.

Now putting the Miz and boring in the same sentence just doesn't feel right, as he has been an integral part of WWE success ever since they started booking him as the megastar since 2016. But, this narrative with Shane is just not working out. From sorting out their daddy issues with each other to actually becoming Smackdown Live Tag Team Champions, WWE has put in a lot of effort into a story that fans don't really connect with.

And it seems this narrative will conclude soon, as rumours from Sports Illustrated have reported that the storyline surrounding Shane and Miz was meant to culminate at the showcase of the immortals. Yeah, you heard that right, WWE actually booked it to end in a one-on-one match at Wrestlemania.

Why WWE feels Shane McMahon deserves his own storyline and match at Wrestlemania for the fourth year in a row is really unknown to most, but we are getting it anyway, and maybe WWE will make the most of it this time around.

According to another rumor, it seems that Shane might turn on the Miz at Fastlane in their Smackdown Live Tag Team match against The Usos, which will see the prodigal son take on a heel persona after many years.

This obviously leads to a match at Wrestlemania, which will see these two tag team partners sort out their differences. Now, Miz as a babyface and Shane betraying his partner for reasons that might not motivate a heel turn sound like a bad idea to most. You never know though, WWE could make it work.

#2 Lacey Evans vs Asuka

Evans is in line for a huge push.
Evans is in line for a huge push.

The main reason why WWE fans and wrestling fans, in general, don't really like to pay too much attention to rumours most of the time because these rumours are inaccurate, as who really knows where these sources reporting on these stories get their 'exclusive' news from. And in the case relating to this point, it seems like we are in the bizarro world again.

As fans wanted to know from the time Asuka beat Becky Lynch at the Royal Rumble 2019, who was next for Asuka? Could it be Sasha Banks, Bayley, Ember Moon or even Charlotte Flair to take on Asuka at Wrestlemania?

Well, it might come as a surprise to many of you but its none of those stars, as recent rumours from F4WOnline.com (h/t Wrestling Inc) have indicated that Lacey Evans could be the superstar to challenge Asuka at Wrestlemania.

As crazy as that sounds to many of you out there, it is a possibility, as WWE has reportedly pencilled in Evans, as a replacement for Ronda Rousey when she departs from the company after Wrestlemania.

Evans is a great talent, that has shown her promise in the ring, but for her to be rumoured to take on Asuka at Wrestlemania and to replace Ronda Rousey as one of the top three stars in the women's division after Wrestlemania, feels like it is another case of WWE pushing an underdeveloped talent far too soon.

Evans needs another year to develop her in-ring style and her not so entertaining character, to really be considered on Becky Lynch and Charlotte's level. While this rumour could just be another rumour, in WWE if it sounds crazy, it's possible.

#3 John Cena In Action

What is Wrestlemania, without John freaking Cena?
What is Wrestlemania, without John freaking Cena?

John Cena is arguably the most recognisable wrestler in the world today, as other from The Rock, there is possibly no other wrestler that much mainstream value than Cena, and while wrestling fans may have a mixed reaction for the man every time he comes down to the ring, it feels like fans issues with Cena has doubled down quite a bit after he become part-time.

While that should mean fans have even more issues with Cena coming and going from Hollywood to WWE when he feels like, that is not the case as Cena has proven himself to the WWE Universe more times than most would actually admit, and his role now has moved past the polarising cor[pate chosen one, but a veteran putting over younger talent.

And according to certain rumours from CagesideSeats.com, Cena might be doing just that at Wrestlemania this year, as the rumours have stated that while Cena might not have a programme set for Wrestlemania as yet, WWE wants him to compete.

It is not hard to realise why WWE wants Cena to return at this time, as there is no bigger draw in wrestling right now than Cena, and Wrestlemania is the biggest wrestling event of the year, so it's a must for the company. From Drew McIntyre to Andrade, there are so many matches one could think of when it comes to Cena, but if WWE keeps the options restricted to Cena elevating younger talent, then we have a winner.

#4 Becky Lynch vs Charlotte Flair vs Ronda Rousey

The match WWE is giving is at Wrestlemania.
The match WWE is giving is at Wrestlemania.

The hottest rivalry in WWE right now doesn't involve Brock Lesnar, John Cena or AJ Styles, but it is a feud that is possibly so hot it will main event Wrestlemania.

The narrative between Becky Lynch, Ronda Rousey and Charlotte Flair has been the best thing that has happened to WWE television in a very long time, as we have a babyface that is actually worth cheering for, we have a heel that is so good at the job you can't help but love to hate her, and we have a champion that is so unstoppable who knows if anyone can beat her.

These things don't happen overnight, as the rise of Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair, happened over so many years, it hard to imagine WWE trying to replicate something like that on a newbie on the main roster.

As these are stars that had to go through an extensive process to find themselves as characters, which now led to them standing at the peak of their powers. While some fans believe Ronda Rousey was pushed too hard and fast to the main event, the truth is that he earned it, Rousey is a UFC hall of fame, a legitimate ass-kicker in the octagon and even in the WWE.

WWE brought her in to legitimise women's wrestling, and Rousey is fantastically doing that. And while the Raw Women's Title match is booked as Charlotte vs Ronda Rousey, rumours have indicated that Becky Lynch will be inserted into this match. Rumours don't even have to state this as it is clear as day that Becky will be in this match, which will make it a triple threat match.

Furthermore, rumours from have indicated that Becky is the chosen one of Vince McMahon which certainly paints her a favourite to walk out of the showcase of the immortals as the champion. Everything about this narrative is perfect, and WWE deserves a part of the back for crafting something special out of it.

#5 Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose and Braun Strowman vs Bobby Lashley, Drew McIntyre and Baron Corbin

A match that WWE has been building on the sidelines for quite a while now.
A match that WWE has been building on the sidelines for quite a while now.

The first time the WWE Universe glanced the Shield at TLC 2012, they knew that Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns were going to be huge stars in the company in a few years time, and they were right, as Rollins, Ambrose and Reigns went on to unbridled success that truly made them all megastars in the wrestling world.

But in the last few months, we didn't know if we saw the last of The Shield when Roman Reigns announced that he would be leaving WWE due to his health concerns cutting his Universal Title reign short. And if that was not enough, WWE recently announced that Dean Ambrose would not be renewing his contract with the company after Wrestlemania, which really sent shockwaves throughout the entire WWE Universe.

The Shield who were once at the top of the WWE ladder, soon would not even exist in the WWE made fans a bit sad, but when WWE announced that Roman Reigns would appear on Raw this week, it sent the internet wild with rumours and speculation.

Rumours of Vince McMahon wanting Reigns to wrestle at Wrestlemania and that The Shield will soon reunite were running wild, but the most interesting rumour of them all is WWE booking a six-man tag team match involving Reigns and Ambrose at Wrestlemania.

According to The Daily Star, it will be the team of Ambrose, Reigns and Braun Strowman taking on Drew McIntyre, Baron Corbin and Bobby Lashley. WWE has dropped hints that this match could happen, as Ambrose slapping Drew on Raw, while Corbin, Lashley and McIntyre assaulting Strowman at Elimination Chamber makes this rumour plausible. So could we see it at the showcase of the immortals?
