6 Things WWE subtly told us on SmackDown: 7-Time Champion turning face soon, Big spoiler on King Of The Ring finals

Paul Heyman made a huge declaration this week on SmackDown
Paul Heyman made a huge declaration this week on SmackDown

It was a massive episode of SmackDown this week, and the next one is set to be even bigger. While this week was the start of The King Of The Ring tournament and the inaugural Queen's Crown, next week will be "Supersized."

Next week's episode of the blue brand is being advertised as "Supersized" SmackDown, and the main event will be Becky Lynch vs Sasha Banks. Brock Lesnar returns, a huge in-ring debut will take place after 14 months, and a lot more. Here's what WWE subtly told us ahead of the "Supersized" episode of SmackDown next week:

#6 Bianca Belair continues to prove why WWE is so invested in her on SmackDown

SmackDown opened with a contract signing for the Women's Championship at Crown Jewel between Becky Lynch, Sasha Banks, and Bianca Belair. Of course, as 95% of contract signings on RAW and SmackDown are - this one ended without the actual pen-to-paper moment.

It was an interesting set-up. Sasha Banks was standing on the commentary table, while Becky Lynch was seated with a chair and table of her own outside of the ring, while the sole babyface Bianca Belair was in the ring, positioned as the biggest threat of the match.

First off, Sasha Banks teased a face turn in the opening segment of SmackDown, something that may well come to fruition soon, as both Becky Lynch and Bianca Belair move to RAW, leaving a vacant spot for SmackDown's top female babyface. Even if Bayley returns to SmackDown, it would be unwise to make her turn face.

Secondly, Bianca Belair continued to prove why WWE push her so hard. The 26-second loss to Becky Lynch remains the only stain in what has been an extremely succcessful 2021 for The EST of WWE.

Belair pointed out to both women that all the major moments with the women in WWE this year has had her as the common factor, which is true. Despite having two highly popular horsewomen facing off against her, she was cheered heavily, with "EST" chants echoing through the arena.

Everything about her character was done right, something that WWE doesn't often do with babyfaces anymore. The opening segment on SmackDown ended with Bianca Belair hitting the KOD on Becky Lynch through the table - and Sasha Banks.

It says a lot that WWE put Bianca Belair in the main event of both SmackDown and RAW in the WWE Draft, as well as the opening segment of SmackDown's "season premiere." But the sustained push she received on SmackDown happened for a reason, and she will continue to prove that on RAW.

Adam Pearce, meanwhile, felt the wrath of Becky Lynch. After both he and Sonya Deville made Becky Lynch sign the contract backstage, she shoved the file right onto his nether region.

#5 WWE teases a huge break-up on SmackDown

The first match of the eight-man King Of The Ring tournament happened on SmackDown. It was a bout between Rey Mysterio and Sami Zayn, with Dominik Mysterio not present at ringside.

Dominik Mysterio was presumably told not to interfere on SmackDown, and the 24-year-old said something inaudible. The match itself was going fine, and Dom felt the need to come out.

Pat McAfee made an interesting and possibly prophetic comment. He said that when Dominik came out, he didn't know whose side he was on. This, if anything, was the biggest tease that WWE has made so far about a potential breakup between The Mysterios.

The duo were drafted to RAW, but what could have been their SmackDown farewell turned out to be a rotten one. Dominik tried helping his father, but things went awry, and Sami Zayn got a cheap roll-up pin over the lucha legend on SmackDown to advance to the semi-finals of the King of The Ring tournament.

It was a failure for Rey Mysterio, but the storyline of possible dissent will spill over to RAW. Is a heel turn for the young Dominik Mysterio inevitable after all that's been happening on SmackDown?

Here's a bit of a spoiler on the King Of The Ring finals. Sami Zayn isn't going to beat Finn Balor, who defeated Cesaro to qualify. Since Zayn doesn't go to Saudi Arabia, this means that Finn Balor is the obvious choice to beat him and advance to the finals at Crown Jewel.

Finn Balor vs Jinder Mahal could be a possibility for Crown Jewel. Will we see King Balor, King Mahal, or will Kofi Kingston, Xavier Woods, or Ricochet defy the odds?

#4 Two huge missed opportunities with The Queen's Crown on SmackDown

The quarter finals of the Queen's Crown are halfway done following SmackDown. There were two matches - Zelina Vega vs Toni Storm, and Carmella vs Liv Morgan. It must have been a heel's night, because both Vega and Carmella advanced on SmackDown.

Zelina Vega advancing shouldn't come as much of a surprise. Toni Storm is still a newcomer to SmackDown, and while many will complain about her being underutilized, it simply may take a little more time for her to get her feet on the ground.

However, Liv Morgan losing in the first round seemed to be a massive missed opportunity. It seems like she has become the Cesaro of the women's division - having the rug pulled from underneath right as she gains any bit of momentum.

Either way, two heels advancing should come as no surprise. On RAW, Doudrop vs Natalya and Shayna Baszler vs Dana Brooke will compete to reach the semi-finals of The Queen's Crown tournament. We imagine that Baszler, who recently got drafted to SmackDown, will be the favorite to win the tournament.

This means that Doudrop might be the only babyface who has any sort of success in the tournament. Since The King Of The Ring has been a tournament traditionally won by heels, the Queen's Crown lineage may start off the same. This could explain the heels' dominance on SmackDown.

#3 Is there a twist with The Tribal Chief and The Wise Man on SmackDown

The Wise Man Paul Heyman has been under fire on SmackDown lately. While his alliance with Roman Reigns has been in question because of Brock Lesnar's return as well as his "free agent" status (which he credited Heyman for).

Paul Heyman's entire loyalty towards Roman Reigns has been put in question, and he was once again under scrutiny on SmackDown as the Universal Champion questioned his position and plans.

Heyman explained that if there were to be any sort of betrayal, why would Roman Reigns be notified about the possibility in advance? The Tribal Chief made him vow his loyalty once more and send a message to Brock Lesnar in front of the camera - something Heyman was happy to do.

It's been an interesting storyline, and it might cast aside the possibility of Paul Heyman turning on Brock Lesnar. At Crown Jewel, there will be a lot of tension about the possibility of Heyman turning on Roman Reigns.

We're not denying the possibility of it happening. We're just saying that if it was going to happen, WWE wouldn't be highlighting the possibility of it as much on SmackDown so openly - making it the main story of the feud.

#2 Is Naomi's storyline with Sonya Deville going to end the latter's authority on SmackDown?

Sonya Deville and Naomi have been quietly feuding on SmackDown for quite a while now. Sonya Deville has been Naomi's biggest critic, telling her that she doesn't even deserve to be on the SmackDown roster.

A furious Naomi stormed into the office, demanding an explanation as to why she wasn't put in the Queen's Crown tournament. Sonya Deville said she was lucky to even be on the SmackDown roster. Once Naomi requested a trade to RAW, she was instantly shut down, with Deville telling her that she has a match next week.

When asked who it was, Deville said that Naomi would be facing her next week on SmackDown. Deville's in-ring return is finally happening after 14 months away from the ring.

The way the storyline was going, it's no surprise that we're seeing Naomi vs Sonya Deville. We expect the latter to cheat and pick up the victory while remaining an authority figure.

But the storyline on SmackDown might be one that will ultimately serve the purpose of removing Deville from power and transitioning her back into her full-time, in-ring role.

#1 Seth Rollins to meet his fate in hell after SmackDown?

Over the last few weeks on SmackDown, we've seen Seth Rollins push Edge's buttons over and over. As if a victory over the Rated-R Superstar at Madison Square Garden wasn't enough, he continued to take shots at the legend to goad him into a trilogy bout.

He has even mentioned giving Edge the opportunity to choose a stipulation for their match. Last week on SmackDown, Seth Rollins took it too "far" as he invaded Edge's home. Luckily, nobody was there.

It was a bit weird. Not only did the WWE Hall Of Famer leave his house open, but Seth Rollins may have been the politest home invader of all time. He even closed the fridge.

This week on SmackDown, Rollins continued to goad Edge, who didn't appear on time. In the closing segment of SmackDown, the Rated-R Superstar finally came out to confront Seth Rollins, and unleashed all his fury on the former Universal Champion.

While Rollins narrowly escaped after elbowing Edge's head, the Rated-R Superstar took the mic and simply said "Hell in a Cell.".It's going down at Crown Jewel, with the huge trilogy bout culminating in Saudi Arabia.

Combined with the Saudi crowd wanting babyface legends, it seems like the perfect setup for Seth Rollins to finally get his comeuppance after his antics on SmackDown. This time, however, he will meet his fate in hell, and Edge is most likely to walk out victoriously.
