There was once a time when female wrestlers retired from the business to raise a family but, now, many women superstars have started a family and returned to the road.

Becky Lynch is the most recent wrestler to return to the company after giving birth, while Lacey Evans and Candice LeRae recently announced their pregnancies and remain employed by WWE.

Over the years, several women have become Champions in WWE after becoming mothers. Here's are five superstar who have done so.

#5. Former WWE Women's Champion Sable

Sable retired from WWE for almost two decades ago. Since then, Sable has welcomed a family with her husband and current WWE Superstar Brock Lesnar.

Interestingly, Sable was already a mother while part of WWE. The former Women's Champion welcomed her daughter Mariah in late 1980s with her husband Wayne W. Richardson before his death in 1991.

Sable then married Marc Mero, who introduced her to WWE. The couple were together both on and off-screen until their eventual split in early 2000s. When they married, Mero adopted Mariah and the duo has since remained close.

Sable's daughter, who is now in her 30s, has welcomed her own children which makes the former Playboy covergirl a grandmother.

Despite being a mother throughout her WWE career, Sable was pushed as a sex symbol and, more than 15 years after her departure, she is still one of the most memorable former WWE Superstars. Sable is widely considered to be the first WWE Diva. She paved the way for the women who joined WEE in the years that followed.

Lesnar is technically a step-grandfather through marriage. With Sable, the Beast Incarnate has two sons named Duke and Turk. He also has a son and a daughter from a previous relationship name Mya Lynn and Luke, respectively.

#4. Former WWE Women's Champion Asuka

Asuka came to WWE back in 2016 and dominated the NXT Women's Division. The Japanese star is still the longest reigning NXT Women's Champion and ended Goldberg's record for the longest undefeated streak.

Her time on the main roster hasn't been as record-breaking, but she's a former RAW and SmackDown Women's Champion. Asuka is also a very private person, so it wasn't known until recently that The Empress of Tomorrow is a mother.

Becky Lynch revealed that the former Champion has children of her own as part of an interview with Sports Illustrated in 2020.

"Giving the championship to Asuka meant a lot to me. She really, really deserves it. One point that people do not realize, because it is not something that is announced, is that she is a working mother. It has shown that it can do it all."

Asuka is currently sidelined from WWE after suffering an arm injury, and it's unclear when she will make her return.

#3. Former WWE Women's Tag Team Champion Tamina

Tamina Snuka has been part of the WWE roster for more than a decade but, for the most part, she's been relegated to being an enhancement talent.

In recent months, the daughter of WWE Hall of Famer Jimmy "Superfly" Snuka has been one half of the reigning Women's Tag Team Champions. Tamina and Natalya recently lost their Championships to Nikki A.S.H. and Rhea Ripley on RAW.

This isn't Tamina's only Championship in WWE since the star is also a former 24/7 Champion. It was the first title she was able to capture nine years after her debut.

When Tamina joined the company in 2010, she was already a mother of two. Her two daughters are now teenagers and have been spotted backstage supporting their mother on several occasions. Tamina welcomed Male'Ata and Milaneta as part of her first marriage, which ended in divorce in 2003.

#2. Former WWE Women's Champion Becky Lynch

Becky Lynch became the most popular female wrestler in WWE after rebranding herself into The Man.

The current SmackDown Women's Champion took a hiatus last year after announcing that she was expecting her first child with fellow WWE Superstar Seth Rollins.

Lynch was away from the company for more than a year and announced the arrival of her daughter, Roux, in December. The Man made her return at SummerSlam last August and captured the SmackDown Women's Championship from Bianca Belair.

This Championship win was her fourth SmackDown Women's title, but it was her first Championship win as a mother. Becky will now defend the title against Belair at Extreme Rules on 26th September.

While Lynch was away, the EST of WWE dominated the Women's Division, but it all changed at SummerSlam. Will there be another paradigm shift at Extreme Rules?

#1. Former WWE 24/7 Champion Candice Michelle

Candice Michelle was once a Diva Search contestant and even though she didn't win the competition, she was signed to WWE.

After posing for Playboy and competing at WrestleMania 22 against Torrie Wilson, the company finally decided to push Candice towards the Women's Championship in 2007.

Candice became the first former Diva Search contestant to win the Championship before the title was retired. Candice herself has only recently retired from the wrestling business, despite leaving WWE back in 2009.

Candice has since welcomed three daughters, AkiAnne, Ryumi and Aloha. While the star hasn't been part of the Women's Revolution inside the ring, she was able to lift the 24/7 Championship.

The star made her return as part of the RAW Reunion in 2019 and pinned Kelly Kelly to become Champion. She lost the title moments later to Alundra Blayze, who forced her to submit.
