As 2019 comes to a close, many wrestlers will be looking back on the year and grading how well they think they have done over the past 12 months inside the squared circle. Some have accomplished more than others, but it could be argued that personal life accomplishments are worth much more.

Whilst many stars have won championships or been promoted or even main evented the biggest show of the year for the first time in 2019, others may be measuring their last year as a success because they finally got down on one knee and were given a positive response.

The following list looks at just five current wrestlers who announced that they were engaged in 2019.

#5 James Ellsworth

WWE fans will remember James Ellsworth from his first match where he was easily defeated by Braun Strowman before the company decided to sign him up and use him in a storyline between AJ Styles and Dean Ambrose on SmackDown Live.

Ellsworth became a fan favorite but was never seen as a star who had any kind of longevity, even though he seemed to find his feet when he was in a storyline with Carmella. After helping the former SmackDown Women's Champion to become the first Women's Money in the Bank winner in history, twice, Ellsworth left, only to return and help The Princess of Staten Island retain her SmackDown Women's Championship in a match against Asuka.

Ellsworth may have left WWE, but he's still a recognizable star and the former SmackDown Live personality had some exciting news to share with the WWE Universe this year when he proposed to his long-time girlfriend at Disneyland.

The Chinless superstar was met with a positive reaction, as seen from the video he shared on Instagram below.

#4 Zack Ryder

Zack Ryder was once in a long-term relationship with for NXT star Emma, but the former Intercontinental Champion has since moved on and revealed that he is now in a relationship with former Impact Wrestling star, Chelsea Green.

Chelsea has appeared on WWE TV numerous times as part of the storyline with Daniel Bryan and Stephanie McMahon, where she portrayed Megan Miller who was Bryan's physical therapist. She was later part of Tough Enough in 2015 but wasn't able to make it to the finals and earn a WWE contract.

Green instead signed with WWE earlier this year and has been part of the NXT set up for the past few months. Her move means that she's able to share a company with her fiancee Zack Ryder since the couple revealed that they were engaged just three days before WrestleMania back in April.

The duo has been dating over the past few years and shared the news on their social media accounts as part of the build-up to WWE's biggest show of the year after Ryder popped the question in the shadow of the Empire State Building.

#3 Daga

Daga proposed to Tessa Blanchard back in November

Tessa Blanchard may not be part of the Women's Revolution in WWE or by her father's side in AEW, but she's carved out her own path in Impact Wrestling where she is proving that there isn't a person who can touch her in the squared circle, male or female.

Blanchard made headlines when it was revealed that she was the stunt double for main star Florence Pugh in Fighting With My Family, which is the biopic of WWE star Paige. The TNA star also recently became the number one contender to the Impact Wrestling World Championship, and will now challenge Sami Callihan for the IMPACT World Championship at the upcoming IMPACT Wrestling Hard To Kill pay-per-view on January 12th in Dallas Texas.

Not only has Blanchard been breaking down glass ceilings over on Impact Wrestling over the past 12 months, but she has also been able to announce a huge step in her personal life since fellow wrestler Daga (Miguel Olivo) proposed to the former Mae Young Classic star and she said "Yes."

Blanchard updated her Instagram to share the news with her fanbase and captioned the image "My whole heart for my whole life."

#2 Angel Garza

Angel Garza has taken NXT by storm over the past few months and this past week he finally had something to show for all of his hard work when he rounded off the year in style and lifted the NXT Cruiserweight Championship.

Garza defeated Lio Rush in what was one of the best matches in NXT history on Wednesday night before he decided to mark the occasion by finding his girlfriend Zaide in the crowd and popping the question.

When NXT went on an advert break Garza asked his long-time girlfriend to marry him and even though she was shocked that he has decided to ask for her hand in marriage, she hugged the new Champion and then declared that her answer was yes.

This is the first time that any NXT star has ever taken advantage of the live cameras and asked their partner to marry them at Full Sail University. When NXT returned from their ad break, the company decided to show the video to the watching crowd as well, which means that it's likely that Garza's girlfriend could be brought into storylines in the near future.

Becky Lynch and Seth Rollins announced their engagement back in the summer

Seth Rollins has had a fantastic 2019 since he was able to defeat Brock Lesnar twice, at two of the company's biggest shows of the year and won the Royal Rumble for the first time. On the flip side, Becky Lynch won the second annual Royal Rumble before going on to become the first female to main event WrestleMania and the first female wrestler to hold two championships at the same time.

The two stars could rival each other to see who has had the best year, but it appears that the couple has also had a great personal life this year as well. Rollins and Lynch revealed that they were in a relationship following WrestleMania and were then made part of storylines together, where they defended both of their titles in a Winner Take All match against Lacey Evans and Baron Corbin at Extreme Rules.

A few months later, Lynch revealed on her Instagram page that the couple had been on a romantic getaway and Rollins had popped the question.
