The finale of Night 1 of WrestleMania 36 was quite an experience as AJ Styles and The Undertaker fought in a Boneyard Match. The setting, the story, as well as the cinematic experience that WWE offered has blown away fans.

WWE tried something different with this match and it seems to have been a resounding success. The Undertaker won the match after burying AJ Styles, and there were quite a few interesting bits throughout the match.

Let's take a look at 5 things you missed in the Boneyard Match between The Undertaker and AJ Styles at WrestleMania 36:

#5 The Undertaker using a mix of different gimmicks

In the build-up to this match, many fans wondered which Undertaker would show up. The shows leading up to WrestleMania 36 showcased a different Undertaker, a mix of the real-life Undertaker, i.e., Mark Calaway, as well as The Deadman gimmick. But, at The Show of Shows, The Undertaker's most well-known gimmicks were used.

Undertaker arrived at the graveyard on a motorbike, accompanied by Metallica's Now That We're Dead song, wearing the trademark bandana and leather jacket of the American Badass gimmick. He rode off from the graveyard after he buried AJ Styles with the same gimmick.

During the match, 'Taker was put in the grave and Styles was to bury him. But while he was sitting on the tractor ready to push the mud into the grave, Undertaker appeared behind him, but this was not the Biker 'Taker.

This seemed like the Big Evil Undertaker, who threatened Styles and told him that there was nowhere to run. After the two climbed up the ladder to get to a platform, The Undertaker raised his hands, resulting in flames appearing near Styles. This is reminiscent of Undertaker's gimmick when he was a part of the Ministry of Darkness.

After Undertaker buried Styles, he put his bandana back on, which had fallen to the floor, and rode away on his motorbike.

The three gimmicks that The Undertaker used during this match could have been the Unholy Trinity that 'Taker alluded to on the RAW go-home show of WrestleMania 36.

#4 Styles begs Undertaker to not "bury him"

During the middle part of the match, The Undertaker pushed AJ Styles into the grave, but couldn't bury him. The other two members of The OC, Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows, came to the aid of Styles, along with a few hooded druids. The Undertaker brushed aside the hooded men, and then attacked Gallows and Anderson with a shovel.

Styles appeared and attacked Undertaker from behind with a block of stone, before telling Undertaker that he does not have what it takes to "bury him". But, during the final moments of the match, The Undertaker tells Styles that he will not last as long as he did, alluding to The Undertaker's storied and lengthy career. This is when Styles pleads the Undertaker to not bury him many times and apologizes to him.

Undertaker hugs Styles and told him that he "fought his a*s off" and it seemed like 'Taker would let Styles live another day, but he landed a big boot to put Styles in the grave and bury him.

Styles begging Undertaker to not "bury him" perhaps had two different meanings; burying him in the grave, and "burying" Styles' career with a huge loss at WrestleMania.

#3 Undertaker gives Styles the middle finger; uses expletives throughout the match

WWE is a product that is catered towards all audiences, young and old. WWE has, for quite a few years, gone PG, where matches and segments don't have wrestlers bleeding to keep it children-friendly. Superstars have been banned from cutting themselves to bleed in the match.

While there was not a lot of blood in this match, apart from The Undertaker cutting his hand after landing a blow through the hearse van's window, there were some expletives said during the match. The Undertaker called Styles a "son of a b*tch" a few times during the match as well.

'Taker even gave Styles the middle finger, a-la Stone Cold Steve Austin, when Styles had battered and bruised The Phenom. Styles mocked and berated The Undertaker, asking him to retire after he buried him, and said that he was not a Phenom and that he was a "nobody". This clearly incensed The Undertaker who showed the middle finger and told Styles to hit him.

#2 Undertaker calls Styles by his real name

At the start of the match when AJ Styles tried to wriggle away and get away from the grave following lofty blows delivered by The Undertaker, The Phenom called Styles to come back and said "where are you going AJ" repeatedly. He then, surprisingly, called out Styles using The Phenomenal One's real first name - Allen.

WWE rarely breaks kayfabe and sticks to the character's WWE name during shows, but Undertaker – like Styles did a few weeks ago, by addressing him as Mark Calaway – used Styles' real name during the match.

During the entirety of this storyline, WWE has broken kayfabe plenty of times, by allowing Styles to call Undertaker using his real-life name, as well as bringing Undertaker's wife, Michelle McCool, into the storyline. And The Undertaker repaid the favor by calling Styles by his real-life name, which brought a sense of realness to this feud.

WWE did the same thing two years ago ahead of WrestleMania 34 when John Cena called out Mark Calaway for a match at The Show of Shows.

#1 Undertaker's wife Michelle McCool brought up during the course of the match

At the start of the match, when The Undertaker rode into the graveyard on his motorbike, Styles told The Phenom that he was surprised to see him here, and he mockingly asked 'Taker if The Deadman's wife, Michelle McCool knows that he's "out so late".

AJ Styles spoke about this again during the match after The Undertaker got a beating from him as he told Undertaker that "Michelle should have never let you out". After throwing Styles off the platform, Undertaker mocked Styles and asked him if he was still going to talk about The Undertaker's wife and if he remembered her name.

Throughout this storyline, WWE have allowed Styles to use The Undertaker's wife's name in promos, and WWE reminded fans of that at WrestleMania 36 as well. By doing so, WWE have peeled off a different layer to the Undertaker character, and perhaps this is something they will do in future feuds involving The Undertaker as well.
