5 Reasons why King Corbin could win the Money In The Bank briefcase - Gimmick change coming his way?

All hail the King!
All hail the King!

Past week's SmackDown gave us all quite a bit to wonder about. WWE left Sasha Banks out of the Money In The Bank Ladder Match mix but included King Corbin at the expense of Drew Gulak. Not taking away anything from Corbin, but Gulak could use such a platform to get his WWE career in the limelight.

Now that King Corbin has been inserted into the match, the dynamics of the MITB Ladder Match have changed. Corbin does find a way to victory when viewers least expect it. There are many names in the mix that are fan favorites but WWE may just hit us with Corbin's victory to keep things alive.

Not many viewers perceive Corbin as the man who will walk away with the Money In The Bank Briefcase, but if WWE has taught us one thing, it is to never say never. So, to prepare yourselves for what may come on May 10th, here I list out five reasons why Corbin could walk out of the Money In The Bank PPV with the briefcase held high.

#5 Babyface champions

At WrestleMania 36, we witnessed two new champions being crowned. Both Drew McIntyre and Braun Strowman overcame substantial odds when they beat Brock Lesnar and Goldberg respectively at The Show of Shows. Nobody in the WWE Universe can deny the fact that these two Superstars deserved their respective wins.

Every member of the WWE Universe wanted to see McIntyre and Strowman hold the most prized possession of the company. With these two Superstars so over with the fans, it is almost impossible for fans to imagine another Superstar beating them for the titles.

WWE would not want to ruin the momentum of its current champions by having them lose to another babyface, thereby pulling in King Corbin to do the dirty work.

#4 The fans love to hate him

The fans are never happy when Corbin is around

King Corbin is the only heel in the ladder match so far and fits the role of a MITB briefcase winner perfectly. He can use the briefcase to cash in on Strowman or McIntyre at a time when either of them is down.

The two behemoths have overcome great challenges at WrestleMania and it isn't likely that they will lose clean to a Superstar. The briefcase gives the winner a chance to capitalize on a situation when the champion is down and gain the upperhand to win the title. This scenario fits Corbin's personality the best.

A blindsided cash-in will hold the champion's credibility and establish Corbin as the biggest heel in WWE today. His constant gloating after winning the championship along with the potential alliance that he could form with Shinsuke Nakamura and Cesaro will make him unstoppable.

If Corbin is champion and has Nakamura and Cesaro by his side, he could reign supreme for a long time. This would make for great television viewing given the circumstances we are in right now.

#3 WWE looking to repay Corbin

King Corbin has been WWE's go-to man when it comes to handing out losses or embarrassing segments. He has been the one to take the table bumps, chair bumps and losses to Superstars WWE has tried to push over the years.

Even if we do count WWE thanking him for his loyalty by letting him win the King of the Ring tournament, since then, for most of it, he has had a series of losses. Since proclaiming himself "King", Corbin has lost to Chad Gable at Hell In A Cell, been on the losing team at Crown Jewel, and been speared by his team captain at Survivor Series.

His feud against Roman Reigns didn't go well for him either. He did get the win at TLC but lost majority of the matches that took place at the Royal Rumble and Super ShowDown. After Reigns, Corbin had a few back and forth encounters with Elias, whom he lost to at WrestleMania 36.

Corbin has seen many losses in the past year and this is WWE's chance to set it all right. A win at MITB almost guarantees that we will see Corbin as WWE or Universal Champion in 2020.

#2 Erase his previous MITB cash-in memory

Baron Corbin wouldn't have been proud of this moment

In 2017, Baron Corbin went on to beat AJ Styles, Kevin Owens, Dolph Ziggler, Sami Zayn and Shinsuke Nakamura at the Money In The Bank PPV to clinch the briefcase. Before calling himself King Corbin, he could call himself Mr. Money In The Bank.

Even though Corbin won the briefcase that guaranteed him a shot at the title at a time he seemed fit, he decided to cash in when a match between then WWE Champion Jinder Mahal and John Cena was set to take place. To his bad luck, Corbin was beaten by the Modern Day Maharaja when he was sidetracked by Cena.

His failed attempt at winning the WWE Championship even after winning the MITB briefcase made him the third Superstar to cash-in unsuccessfully. WWE has the chance to right that wrong if they go ahead with Corbin as their choice to walk out of Money In The Bank as the winner.

#1 Back to Constable Corbin

Bow down to The Authority

Last year, we got a chance to see Corbin with a fresh look. He had shaved his hair off, donned a suit and sided with Stephanie McMahon, becoming Constable Corbin. He was a part of The Authority and kept the RAW roster in check. This was a very entertaining gimmick that nobody saw coming.

Who is to say that WWE wouldn't want to remind WWE fans of Corbin's previous gimmick? This would seem the perfect time for Corbin to move away from "King Corbin" and turn into "Corporate Corbin" given the fact that MITB will be taking place at WWE headquarters.

As the tagline of this year's MITB goes, "Climb the corporate ladder", it would be easy for WWE to make the transition of Corbin from King to Constable. We can see Triple H waiting at the topmost floor or the roof of the HQ for Corbin to make it and hand over the ultimate prize to him.
