5 reasons why Alicia Fox is underrated in WWE

Fox has finally come to the forefront in WWE

Alicia Fox is slowly starting to find a touch of relevance in WWE after many years of floundering in irrelevancy. For whatever reason, the company doesn’t seem to put much stock into her as a performer, which is a shame due to the multitude of talents that she has at her disposal.

Of course with the talent pool as deep as it is on both Raw and SmackDown Live right now you could argue that several women can be considered ‘underrated’, but none quite as much as Fox. She’s had some great opportunities during her tenure in the business, but her last major storyline prior to her time on 205 Live would’ve come on Total Divas.

We're starting to see signs of great work from her after she was finally given a proper platform to shine by WWE, but we’re hoping this isn’t just going to be used as a catalyst for Sasha Banks’ heel turn. Either way, she’s getting some form of exposure, but when you consider what she can do both in and out of the ring there needs to be more to it than that.

So with that being said, here are five reasons why Alicia Fox is underrated in WWE.

#1 Finisher

Her finishing move is the Scissors Kick, reminiscent to Booker T’s move

Not since Booker T have we seen someone who can deliver a Scissors Kick as well as Alicia Fox, and we aren’t just saying that because she probably uses enough force to kill a man. Being given a finisher like this should be a sign of trust and a push from the company, but they aren’t utilising it in the way that they did with Booker.

Some finishers can even be used for merchandising purposes, and that’s the exact route WWE should be going down with Alicia. It looks devastating, can be hit at a moment’s notice and it should be protected to the point where nobody kicks out of it for at least six months.

Use it as Fox’s special weapon that she can pull out at any time during a bout and we’re good to go.

#2 Look

Fox has been used in WWE’s promotional material for years

Whether it’s the smile or the mesmerising eyes, Alicia has a unique look that sets her apart from the other girls on the main roster. There’s a reason why she’s been used in so much promotional material over the years despite not being featured on actual WWE programming – because she’s an extremely attractive individual.

Of course, that shouldn’t be a reason behind succeeding in the company, which is why an aspect like her height should also be factored into the equation. Fox towers over the majority of female superstars (she is taller than Kalisto) and as such should be presented in a dominating way, because there are so many things they can do with that.

She’s a little, erm.. mad.

#3 Character

Fox can play numerous roles

For a long time, Alicia was simply known as either a sidekick or a jobber to the stars, not really being given an opportunity to shine on the big stage. Now, thankfully, her new character has opened a lot of doors for her as a performer.

Why? Because she’s gone absolutely mad and it makes for truly enticing television.

She can make the audience feel either uncomfortable or extremely intrigued, all with a simple facial expression or action. There’s no limit to what she can do or how far she can take this ‘mad’ persona because she’s got the mic skills to back it up. With Noam Dar by her side, she’s also got some muscle, so there’s really nothing missing at this stage.

Speaking of which...

#4 Marketability

Fox has featured in several ads for the company

When you consider how many different advertisements or appearances Alicia has made for the company over the last few years, anyone who doesn’t pay too much attention to the business would probably think that she’s the World Champion.

With that in mind, just imagine how much more she could do for the product if she was pushed a little bit closer towards that position.

Everything about her is marketable, and she’s still young enough to the point where they could get a good five plus years out of her if they wanted to. Fox has the ability to adapt to both a heel and a babyface role, in addition to proving that she’s more than capable of speaking in front of a crowd and making public appearances. It’s like printing money.

Wait, how long?

#5 Veteran status

She’s been part of WWE for almost a decade

Many people probably won’t know this, but Alicia has actually been around since 2008 – meaning that she’s spent nearly a decade in the company. Staggering.

In that time she’s fluctuated between being a valet and an actual in-ring performer, but one thing has never changed: her ability to grow and get better with every passing performance.

That veteran status puts her above a lot of the women on the roster, as she’s been around the block and few times and has a touch more experience. Whether it’s helping other girls backstage or using that fact in a storyline aspect, the company are definitely missing the boat here.
