5 reasons why Roman Reigns vs. Brock Lesnar should NOT be a "Winner Takes All" match at WrestleMania

WrestleMania is the biggest event in the pro wrestling industry. Vince McMahon always saves his company's most blockbuster matches for April, and this year is no exception. WWE is planning an incredible fixture for WrestleMania 38.

Universal Champion Roman Reigns will face WWE Champion Brock Lesnar in a title vs. title, "Winner Takes All" match. This isn't the first time the company has gone with this idea.

Fans might remember that Becky Lynch defeated RAW Women's Champion Ronda Rousey and SmackDown Women's Champion Charlotte Flair in a similar match at WrestleMania 35.

However, things are different this time. With plenty of young talent on the roster, Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns shouldn't keep both the world titles to themselves. In a perfect world, The Show of Shows would be used to elevate young stars. Unfortunately, that isn't the case this year.

Here are five reasons WWE should avoid a Winner Takes All match in the main event of WrestleMania.

#5. Bobby Lashley should be the WWE Champion at WrestleMania

The Beast Incarnate defied the odds at this year's Elimination Chamber and became the WWE Champion by defeating five other competitors inside the punishing structure.

However, he didn't pin Bobby Lashley at the event. It is worth noting that Lashley hasn't been pinned by Lesnar yet, and was even able to defeat him at Royal Rumble 2022.

Thankfully, The All-Mighty will receive a title shot at the Madison Square Garden event in March. If history repeats itself, Bobby Lashley will become the new WWE Champion.

But there is a chance that Lashley won't recover from his shoulder injury in time for his WWE Championship match. Fans can only hope that he recovers with time enough to defeat the Beast before 'Mania.

Lesnar getting dethroned just before WWE's biggest event will add spice to his rivalry against Roman Reigns. Meanwhile, Bobby Lashley can defend the title against a worthy opponent at the Show of Shows.

#4. Brock Lesnar doesn't need the WWE Championship to main event WrestleMania

Brock Lesnar probably has the highest star power on WWE's entire roster. He can instantly become the main event of any show, including WrestleMania.

Over the years, he's defeated multiple legends like Triple H and The Undertaker. He was also one of the strongest world champions of the modern era, holding the Universal Championship for a combined 686 days.

The most important factor is that he is the winner of the 2022 Royal Rumble match, which ensures him a Universal title opportunity at the Show of Shows. If Lesnar wants to face his rival, he can do it with or without the WWE Championship around his waist.

Yes, the title vs. title match has higher stakes, but the match could still be the main event of WrestleMania 38 with just one championship on the line. Having another title is simply not needed.

#3. More stars can be featured at WrestleMania if the main event isn't a Winner Takes All match

Every superstar on the WWE roster dreams about being featured in a world title match at WrestleMania. However, a Winner Takes All match prevents at least two more superstars from having their moment on the Grandest Stage of Them All.

If either Reigns or Lesnar weren't champion, two more stars could have had a moment to shine.

As noted earlier, Bobby Lashley is one of the superstars who deserves to be at the Showcase of the Immortals. If Lashley doesn't make it in time, any other top talent could be the WWE or Universal Champion to add another bout to the star-studded match card.

Paul Heyman has announced that a mystery opponent will face Lesnar for his WWE Championship at MSG. Hopefully, that person will be a deserving star who will defend the prestigious title against a worthy opponent at the Show of Shows.

#2. Crowning of a double champion at WrestleMania 38 may be unhealthy for the future

If a double champion has to be crowned, it shouldn't be at this year's WrestleMania. More specifically, it shouldn't be Roman Reigns or Brock Lesnar.

The Tribal Chief has been the highlight of WWE for a long time and surely deserves to be the undisputed champion. However, this might not be healthy for his title reign. He might have to pull double duty on any given week, which can lead to fans getting bored with his character,

Additionally, being featured on only one show ensures that WWE has enough time to craft great storylines for the Head of The Table. Working on different angles for both brands will eventually lead to poor rivalries.

On the other hand, Brock Lesnar probably isn't going to be active for an extended period. As fans know, he goes back to his part-time schedule after each significant feud.

If Lesnar wins and returns to part-time status, the company will be left with no fully active world champions. This could even feasibly last until Summerslam, which would be catastrophic for the promotion.

#1. A double champion may become the end of the Brand Split after WrestleMania

One of the most interesting concepts of WWE is the Brand Split, which features completely different rosters on RAW and SmackDown. Some fans love the red brand while others prefer the blue.

At WrestleMania, a double champion will be crowned, which may lead to the end of the Brand Split. Many future challengers may have to appear at both shows to continue their feuds with the new undisputed champion. This is irrational and could break the concept of either brand.

At best, it will violate and invalidate the WWE Draft. At worst, it could lead to the dissolution of the Brand Split entirely. The company has tried this in the past, which led to SmackDown becoming the B show. The product at that time was concentrated on RAW.

The current condition of WWE's ratings isn't great, to say the least. The end of the Brand Split will just make the situation worse. To prevent that, Roman Reigns vs. Brock Lesnar shouldn't be a "Winner Takes All" match at WrestleMania.
