5 Potential Winners for the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal

Who will win this year's Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal Trophy?
Who will win this year's Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal Trophy?

WrestleMania has always been sport entertainment's biggest event for a reason, and that includes seeing some of the biggest names competing in the same ring.

To make WrestleMania events more dynamic and include more superstars in the grand event, WWE established the André the Giant Memorial Battle Royal in 2014 to honor André's legacy.

Since WrestleMania 30, we have seen the battle royal take place annually at WrestleMania, and we’ve seen both big names, and not so big names, to win the trophy on separate occasions.

Similarly, the event will once again be held on this year’s show, and we expect it to be as good as the others in the past. WWE has announced a total of 29 names who will participate in the battle royal.

Keeping that in mind, we have come up with a list of 5 superstars who could win the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal, and potentially benefit from that triumph.

#5 Braun Strowman

Will the Monster have another worthless trophy to his name?
Will the Monster have another worthless trophy to his name?

The winner of the Greatest Royal Rumble is one of the obvious choices here. The entire Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal story-line has been built around The Monster Among Men and two Saturday Night Live hosts. This gives him more prominence than any other superstar who will take part in the match.

While Strowman would be a very obvious contender, his win might not excite fans as much. However, keeping his current standings in mind, WWE might still pull the trigger on this one.

Strowman has slipped down far too low in the Raw roster, and he needs to start climbing back up again.

While this battle royal doesn’t offer anything at the end of the day, it will help Strowman get back in the spotlight after the event and gain some real matches which can help him improve his current value.

Strowman’s size would also justify the name of the battle royal, similar to what Big Show’s win in 2016 did.

#4 Apollo Crews

Will Apollo be able to one-up the greatest moment in his career?
Will Apollo be able to one-up the greatest moment in his career?

After disbanding from Titus Worldwide, Apollo has seen some good days and some bad days. Currently, his position on the roster is unclear as he has been pushed on some days while used as an enhancement talent on others.

The highlight of Apollo’s career came a few days back when he fought in a televised match against Kurt Angle during his farewell tour. With Apollo getting more screen time in recent weeks, it could mean that WWE is going to give him another push to become a formidable mid-card player.

If that is the case, then a victory in the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal can do him better than any of the other participants. Apollo is both strong and athletic and can last long enough to eliminate the final few participants to take the trophy home convincingly.

Hopefully, this year will be better for the extremely talented superstar.

#3 EC3

Will EC3 find a way to push his career?
Will EC3 find a way to push his career?

EC3 is one of the three free agents who has been announced to take part in the match, with the other two being Heavy Machinery.

When EC3 was called up to the main roster, most believed that he would get a great push which will help him reach new heights and even replace some of the older faces on the roster.

A few feuds were teased, but sadly EC3 has found a place on Main Event rather than Raw or SmackDown. His only notable work thus far was against Dean Ambrose in a couple of matches.

WWE will need to push the superstar back up if they don’t want him to lose value and end up being like Mojo Rawley, No Way Jose, and the other unfortunate NXT call-ups.

EC3 has many other options if he parts from WWE again, and keeping that in mind, WWE could book him to win the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal and go on to use that in his promos to get build him to prominence on the main roster.

#2 Ali

Will a change of name result in a change of fate?
Will a change of name result in a change of fate?

The high-flying superstar took a major jump from 205 Live to SmackDown Live and immediately got into the title scene.

While many superstars dream about getting good chances after years on the main roster, Ali got his chance from day one, which excited the WWE Universe.

However, an injury sustained before Elimination Chamber caused a hiccup in plans related to him, and Kofi Kingston cashed in by becoming his replacement for the match, and the push.

If WWE wants to keep Ali in the loop, they can do so by crowning the superstar the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal champion. He will be the most diverse champion to date, as neither is he large nor extremely muscular like most winners from the past were.

Ali stands a good chance of winning the trophy as he is one of the few notable top-tier names who will be part of the monstrous battle royal.

#1 An unannounced 30th entrant

Will a legend surprise us at the event?
Will a legend surprise us at the event?

WWE has announced a total of 29 men who will be a part of the Battle Royal. While that is an odd number, the first edition of the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal also had an odd 31-men battle.

While it seems like all the participants have been announced for the battle, there is still room to add one more superstar to make this an even 30-men affair.

WWE could announce the final entrant on the day of the match, or even enter the superstar completely unannounced!

Can it be an NXT superstar like Pete Dunne, Matt Riddle, or Velveteen Dream, or a legend such as The Undertaker, The Rock, or John Cena? Only time will tell, and even the most famous superstars wouldn’t mind winning a trophy named after a legend.

The chances of an unannounced participant seem high as WWE would want to surprise its viewers at The Showcase of the Immortals.
