WWE has been known to do some interesting things during WrestleMania season, and this year should be no different. Plus, with the arduous lull in programming the company had during the fall, it is almost crucial for WWE to keep fans happy during this special period of time.

This goal is especially crucial heading into WrestleMania 37. It will be the first WWE show with live fans in attendance since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. As a result, this year's "Showcase of the Immortals" will feel like a celebration unlike any other.

Fortunately for WWE fans, the company has already planted a plethora of seeds for the coming months. Some of these potential paths could blossom into something big. Of course, fan backlash is always a risk. But the company seems to have some very interesting ideas on the table this time around.

With that in mind and with WrestleMania only a few months away, here's a look at five payoffs WWE could be heading toward. As always, please share your thoughts in the comments below.

#5 WWE could break up Shayna Baszler and Nia Jax

Doesn't it seem like WWE is done with these 2 as a team?
Doesn't it seem like WWE is done with these 2 as a team?

WWE has been teasing the split of Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler for months now. But the company hasn't gone through with it yet. The two wrestlers could thrive as singles Superstars, so it's unclear why WWE has dragged this partnership out. But it looks like the company is finally getting to the point where it wants to send Jax and Baszler on their separate ways.

Sure, they recently regained the WWE Women's Tag Team Championship at the Royal Rumble pay-per-view. But the two stars constantly bicker, so it seems like this pair is a team in name only. They're constantly at each other's throats. That has to be a sign that WWE wants to split Jax and Baszler up.

In the end, Shayna Baszler and Nia Jax deserve so much better than their current roles as mid-card fodder on RAW. WWE was on the right track when they had the pair win the women's tag team titles, but the duo just didn't carry that momentum very well. Now, Jax and Bazler will be better off once they're separately doing their own thing.

#4 WWE might have The Miz betray John Morrison

Is WWE planning to break up The Miz and John Morrison?
Is WWE planning to break up The Miz and John Morrison?

In WWE, there's always that point of no return when it comes to Mr. Money in the Bank, and The Miz seems like he's close to crossing that line. That doesn't necessarily mean that he is close to a cash-in by any means. But it looks like he's about to make move that will set him toward that highly lucrative path.

Unfortunately for John Morrison, who has been by The Miz's side ever since his feud with The Fiend, "The A-Lister" might be better off without him. WWE needs to set this turn up that resembles Shawn Michaels' iconic betrayal of Marty Jannetty.

If nothing else, WWE already seems to be teasing the idea that teaming with Morrison is costing The Miz potential success. After a little build up, all the company has to do is have The Miz brutally cross Morrison. He could then use that development to garner a lot of heat. From there, his cash-in will probably be one of the most polarizing events in recent history if it's done correctly.

#3 Alexa Bliss could win the WWE Raw Women's Championship

Does WWE have another championship opportunity planned for Alexa Bliss?
Does WWE have another championship opportunity planned for Alexa Bliss?

Why does it feel like WWE isn't done with Alexa Bliss in the RAW Women's Championship picture? Although the company hasn't given Bliss a rematch yet, her victory over Nikki Cross on RAW was a good start. This win could even result in Bliss gaining the momentum she needs for another crack at Asuka.

Keep in mind that WWE has teased Bliss winning the RAW Women's title on two separate occasions now. She hasn't ruled her out or another title shot. Again, Bliss's victory over Cross could just be a way to build her up for a rematch with Asuka. Bliss could potentially defeat Asuka next time around.

In the end, WWE (usually) doesn't tease a title run for no reason. Bliss' victory over Asuka shouldn't be any different. Seeing how amped up many fans are at the possibility of Bliss becoming the women's champion, the company might not have any choice in putting the title on her. Her new power could make her run as the champion quite unique.

#2 WWE might bring The Fiend back at Fastlane

Will WWE have The Fiend return at Fastlane?
Will WWE have The Fiend return at Fastlane?

WWE wrote The Fiend off television back in December last year. While many fans thought his return would come at the Royal Rumble, that didn't happen. Interestingly enough, the Men's Royal Rumble Match came and went without a word about The Fiend. Other than Alexa Bliss' presence on RAW, The Fiend has been quite absent for several weeks now.

While WWE hasn't given an official date for The Fiend's return, it seemed obvious that he would come back at the Royal Rumble pay-per view. He could have entered the Royal Rumble Match relatively late, eliminate Randy Orton, and go on to secure his spot at WrestleMania 37.

With that being said, combined with WWE's upcoming debut on Peacock in March, it now looks like the company will hold off on the return until then. At least that way, WWE could impress its new streaming partner, offer a legitimate surprise for fans, and hopefully come up with a good path forward for The Fiend.

#1 WWE might be setting up Roman Reigns versus Edge at WrestleMania 37

Could WWE do Roman Reigns versus Edge at WrestleMania 37?
Could WWE do Roman Reigns versus Edge at WrestleMania 37?

Whether fans want to admit it or not, one big question is everywhere in WWE right now. Who will step up to face Roman Reigns at WrestleMania? "The Tribal Chief" has been on fire in recent months, as his heel run has been remarkable. Reigns has been unstoppable, so WWE will have to book his path to WrestleMania wisely.

In all honesty, Roman Reigns is running out of opponents at this point. He just beat Kevin Owens three times in just over a month. For this reason, Edge could be the perfect option for the "Super Bowl of Sports Entertainment." Edge would be he underdog after he came out of retirement and won the Royal Rumble a year later. Reigns could be the ideal spoiler to this feel-good story.

Now, it is worth mentioning that WWE has already teased a match between Edge and Drew McIntyre at WrestleMania 37, but that clash doesn't seem as interesting. A babyface versus babyface match wouldn't be that exciting to watch. Reigns is the best candidate for Edge's opponent because these two stars could tell a thrilling story that features a beloved hero and a despicable villain.
