5 Opponents for Shane McMahon at WrestleMania 34

These five massive clashes could be interesting if booked right
These five massive clashes could be interesting if booked right

Shane McMahon does not behave like your typical 47 year old man, does he? How many middle aged men, after all, not only stay in prime shape at the age, but also perform death-defying stunts, to boot.

It is his daredevil nature that makes Shane McMahon a draw, in the year 2018. From WWE's boy wonder to its resident elder statesman, McMahon has had quite a journey thus far. And he's far from done, right now.

This article looks at 5 men that McMahon could have entertaining matches with, at WrestleMania 34 come April. Each of these matches could be high stakes affairs, and we believe they could all certainly deliver on the big stage.

Here we go...

#5 AJ Styles

Could there be more to this glare than meets the eye?
Could there be more to this glare than meets the eye?

While Shane McMahon is certainly a legend who does incredible things in the ring, he is no technical master. However, last year, he had a fantastic match with AJ Styles, to kickstart WrestleMania 33. The two men took each other to the limit. It was a very different kind of Shane McMahon match!

WWE may just decide to recreate the magic of the past year, by doing a rematch at WrestleMania 34. Remember the staredown between the men a few weeks ago? We believe that it could be the seed for something quite massive.

Bear in mind that this clash may only make sense if AJ Styles loses his Championship in the months that lead up to WrestleMania. We simply cannot foresee Styles defending his Championship against an authority figure in his very own brand.

This is the least appealing option on our list, so let's move on...

#4 Daniel Bryan

Imagine the pop if Bryan does make his big comeback
Imagine the reaction if Bryan does make his big comeback to the squared circle

Why does this pick rank so low in our list, you rightfully ask. After all, by all indications, it should be at Number 1. All of SmackDown Live's programming seems to be pointing towards a Shane McMahon vs. Daniel Bryan clash at WrestleMania. It's almost inevitable.

We'll tell you the primary reason why we have ranked this pick so low in our list. After Daniel Bryan, perhaps the greatest technical worker of our generation, gets cleared, do we really want him to face Shane McMahon? A non full-time wrestler? Wouldn't we rather see him tango with some better in-ring talent?

Moreover, do keep in mind that this match will only take place if Daniel Bryan does indeed get cleared by WWE's medical staff. This contest will be a great full stop to the tensions that have been brewing between the two men, not won't necessarily be a Daniel Bryan classic.

That said, for what it is worth, this will be a marquee WrestleMania match. The crowd is bound to be divided between these two legends. Even if Shane McMahon isn't exactly Dean Malenko in the ring, and Bryan is rusty, the hype will be off the charts. If it does happen, this match will be a big deal!

#3 Kurt Angle

Could we see these two rivals lock up again?
Could we see these two rivals lock up again?

This is one of those matches that is guaranteed to get a big nostalgia pop. Kurt Angle and Shane McMahon are no strangers to one another. Everyone who was watching back then remembers their epic feud from the Attitude Era.

The two men could meet under very different circumstances now. One where SmackDown Live goes up against RAW.

While we did see Kurt Angle wrestle in 2017, it was always in a multi-man environment. He could have a clash for brand pride, against the Commissioner of his rival brand, Shane McMahon, at WrestleMania 34 come April.

The two men could really prove to the WWE Universe that for legends, age is merely a number.

#2 John Cena

Can you believe these two men have never had a one-on-one contest?
Can you believe these two men have never had a one-on-one contest?

While rumours abound that John Cena and The Undertaker are due for a clash at WrestleMania 34, they are just that! Merely rumours. On the other hand, here's a more probable clash. One between two WWE legends who've never faced one another thus far.

Yes, they've been part of multi man contests before. However, despite the fact that both men consider WWE to be their home, they've never had a one on one match. This could be remedied at WrestleMania 34.

Because both superstars are still current and relevant, this match would intrigue both the old-school and the modern members of the WWE Universe. This is one clash that could sell several tickets once you place these two men's images on a pay-per-view poster.

#1 Triple H

There is a lot of money to be made with this clash
There is a lot of money to be made with this clash

Triple H steals the show at WrestleMania every year with his entrances. Shane McMahon has been doing the same for the past two years, with his breakneck spots. If these two men were paired for a match, the effect would be quite massive. A 'this is awesome' moment.

Both men are worthy of the keys to the kingdom, as the WWE Universe is aware. There would be a real-life storyline to play into, right here. The sibling rivalry between Shane and Stephanie McMahon could also be highlighted.

Ultimately, it is one of those storylines that writes itself. One does not need to script a feud based around real-life events, and WWE may just be able to sell the fact to the WWE Universe that these two men absolutely hate one another.

Which of these clashes do you want to see, at the Show of Shows?
