5 finishes to Edge vs. Seth Rollins at WWE SummerSlam - Former Women's Champion gets involved, Stunning heel turn?

Seth Rollins vs. Edge is set for SummerSlam.
Seth Rollins vs. Edge is set for SummerSlam.

Edge and Seth Rollins might be part of WWE's best story heading into SummerSlam. It is among the most exciting matches at The Biggest Party of the Summer and might also be the least predictable one.

The rivalry between the two stars has been seven years in the making, ever since Rollins threatened to paralyze Edge just to get John Cena to bring The Authority back to WWE. The Rated-R Superstar is now healthy and has teased a match against The Savior of SmackDown since his comeback at the start of last year.

After several mini confrontations at the Royal Rumble and backstage on the Blue brand, Edge and Seth Rollins are on a collision course at SummerSlam. Both superstars have cut stellar promos in the build to it, cranking up the intensity of the angle. This might be the best match of the entire show.

The beauty of Edge's bout with Rollins is the lack of a clear winner. Either superstar winning would make sense, which makes a big match like this more exciting. Several outcomes are possible between them, with some more shocking than others.

Here are five ways Edge vs. Seth Rollins could end at the upcoming pay-per-view. Let us know who you think will win this hotly-anticipated match in the comments below.

#5 Seth Rollins cheats to beat Edge at WWE SummerSlam

It isn't known whether WWE will book another match between Edge and Seth Rollins after SummerSlam. But if that's the case, it makes all the sense in the world to give the younger star a big victory at the event.

Rollins has claimed to be a better version of Edge, so what better way to prove it than by outsmarting The Ultimate Opportunist? He does not even have to win clean to make his point, with several ways he can cheat to win.

Considering Rollins himself interfered in Edge's last match at Money in the Bank, their SummerSlam bout likely wouldn't feature any external body. But if somebody were to interfere and help Seth Rollins win, it may be Baron Corbin after the former Universal Champion pays him a hefty sum of money to do so.

Nevertheless, a simple low blow or weapon shot to Edge would do for him. The company may want to further elevate Rollins, with one eye towards a Universal Title match against Roman Reigns in the future.

#4 Seth Rollins pins Edge clean as a whistle

With some of the aforementioned reasons in mind, what if Seth Rollins straight up pins Edge clean at SummerSlam? It would come as a surprise to many, but WWE can make a major statement by giving The Savior of SmackDown a moment like this.

It could be the case of Rollins wrestling circles around an older version of himself, with Edge passing the torch to him. The former Universal Champion does have a stellar SummerSlam record and has won his last four matches at the event, including a victory over Brock Lesnar.

Seth Rollins could use the Curb Stomp as a cheat code of sorts, with Edge's previous neck issues. It could become as devastating as Randy Orton's Punt Kick, if marketed right. The pay-per-view provides WWE with the opportunity to do so while writing The Rated-R Superstar off TV.

#3 Edge wins clean at WWE SummerSlam

The other side of the coin sees Edge earning a much-needed victory at SummerSlam.

In an astonishing fact, the WWE Hall of Famer is yet to win a singles pay-per-view match in the ring since his comeback. Edge's WrestleMania win over Randy Orton ended backstage, while his last pay-per-view win was the 2021 Royal Rumble Match. After getting pinned twice by Roman Reigns, he is due a big win.

Edge could simply gain revenge on Seth Rollins after an excellent match, putting him down with a Spear. This is also the most likely outcome if the company doesn't book another match between the pair.

#2 Seth Rollins wins after Beth Phoenix throws in the towel

This is a creative way of WWE giving Seth Rollins a victory at SummerSlam, without necessarily beating Edge. Beth Phoenix can end the match for him. Rollins could make good of his claims and utterly dominate the legend, possibly even hitting multiple Curb Stomps.

But while Edge refuses to stay down, his health clearly deteriorates during the course of the match. This would prompt his wife to come out and put a stop to the match, gifting Rollins the win but setting up a clear rematch for later. Phoenix is very much a part of the WWE fold, as a color commentator on NXT.

However, she could yet show up in an emotional role at SummerSlam, one night before NXT TakeOver 36. WWE has recently shown no regard for what happens on the Black and Gold brand, so could this be another example of it?

#1 Edge defeats Seth Rollins after a double turn at WWE SummerSlam

This would be a radical move from WWE, but one that would be as measured as it is bold. Heading into SummerSlam, the company has clearly defined Edge as the babyface and Seth Rollins as the heel. But what if, during the course of the match, the former snaps and proceeds to tear Rollins apart?

The beating could get so brutal that it is uncomfortable to watch. The Rated-R Superstar adopted a heelish role heading into WrestleMania 37 and excelled in it, so he can pull off a shocking heel turn with intensity.

Meanwhile, WWE may want to transition Seth Rollins into a babyface to further prepare him for a huge match against Roman Reigns. He could very well be the next Universal Champion.

With that being said, it would take a lot of work for The Architect to come across as sympathetic opposite the Hall of Famer at SummerSlam. But Edge's storytelling abilities would make it work well. He has become near untouchable, in that respect.
