Roman Reigns pulled out from the 2024 WWE Draft, seemingly signifying he will not return anytime soon. Hence, the blue brand is in desperate need of a top heel.

WWE SmackDown has been the kingdom of Roman Reigns for almost four years. He has been the top heel of the brand, even with a part-time schedule. However, with Solo Sikoa's recent moves and the happenings of WWE Draft 2024, the blue brand may have to find a replacement for the time being.

Let's see why this replacement could be Gunther:

A huge change for The Ring General

If Roman Reigns has been the top heel on WWE SmackDown, there is no question that Gunther has been the top heel on Monday Night RAW for years. The Ring General's record-breaking Intercontinental Championship reign has solidified him as an unstoppable force.

The Imperium leader has battled most of the top babyfaces on the red brand in recent years. With the draft upon us, he could soon join SmackDown. This will ensure he gets new competition. The Ring General will also be separated from Sami Zayn, so the latter could have an uninterrupted feud with Chad Gable.

Gunther can match Roman Reigns' aura

Roman Reigns remained a top star on WWE SmackDown because of the way he carried himself as a champion. He looked like he was born to rule the industry with his aura.

If anyone can match that aura, it's Gunther. His towering presence and leadership qualities have always made him feel like a final boss.

This kind of presence is perfectly suited to fill the absence of The Tribal Chief on the blue brand.

A dream rivalry on WWE SmackDown

If The Ring General transitions to the blue brand, not only could he get to find new opponents, but he could also get to challenge the Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes.

While fans may think the feud between the two stars might not make much sense or that there is no history, that is certainly not the case. Cody Rhodes eliminated Gunther from the 2023 and 2024 Men's Royal Rumble Matches. Hence, the former Intercontinental Champion could start a feud for revenge.

Also, to make Cody feel like a dominant champion, the company could realistically book him to feud with a dominant figure like Gunther.
