WWE SummerSlam 2019 is in the history books as Seth Rollins conquered The Beast Incarnate Brock Lesnar once again in the main event to become a 2-time WWE Universal Champion. The 2019 edition of SummerSlam featured some marquee bouts like Charlotte Flair vs Trish Stratus, Dolph Ziggler vs Goldberg and also the in-ring debut of "The Fiend" Bray Wyatt.

The WWE Universe enjoyed the show which was indeed a power-packed one. WWE had put on a solid SummerSlam show in 2018 as well where Roman Reigns dethroned Brock Lesnar to win the Universal Champion and Ronda Rousey defeated Alexa Bliss to win the RAW Women's Championship.

There were a lot of similarities between the two shows which went unnoticed by the WWE Universe. Here are the 3 unnoticed similarities between SummerSlam 2018 and SummerSlam 2019.

#3 Brock Lesnar lost his Universal Championship in the main event

As mentioned before, The Conqueror, Brock Lesnar featured in the main event of both the shows. Interestingly, Brock entered the two SummerSlam events as the Universal Champion. However, by the end of the night, he lost his title on both occasions.

Roman Reigns accomplished the feat of defeating Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam in 2018 thanks to interference from Braun Strowman. The distraction had played a major role in turning the tables against Lesnar.

In 2019, Roman Reigns' Shield brother, Seth Rollins repeated what The Big Dog had done in 2018 but, The Architect pinned The Beast clean in the middle of the ring.

WWE loves to call Brock Lesnar The Sultan of SummerSlam and given that he also defended his Universal Championship in the last match of SummerSlam 2017 solidifies the aforementioned statement.

#2 A squash match lasting 1 minute and 50 seconds

WWE doesn't often book squash matches on pay-per-view, but the WWE Creative Team has been booking matches which do not even last 2 minutes at SummerSlam.

Speaking of the squash match that took place at SummerSlam 2018, Braun Strowman defended his Money In The Bank contract against Kevin Owens in that match. The WWE Universe backed The Prizefighter to give The Monster a proper fight, however, Braun bulldozed Kevin Owens in 1 minute and 50 seconds to retain his briefcase.

This year, The Myth Goldberg had made his return to battle Dolph Ziggler at SummerSlam. Ziggler cut a fiery promo before the match began and even took control of Goldberg by hitting him with 2 Superkicks. Though The Showoff got the momentum by his side, the former Universal Champion pinned him courtesy a spear and a jackhammer.

Co-incidentally, the squash match of SummerSlam 2018 and SummerSlam 2019 lasted 1 minute and 50 seconds.

#1 The ending of the WWE Championship match

What was the point of this ending?
What was the point of this ending?

WWE considers the WWE Championship as its most prestigious championship but, if we have a look at the way the company has booked the title at the Biggest Party of the Summer, one cannot simply hail it as the topmost title.

At SummerSlam 2018, the then champion AJ Styles put his title on the line against Samoa Joe. The fans expected both the Superstars to bring their game and put on a match for the ages. Styles and Joe gave it all they had before the Samoan Submission Machine grabbed the microphone to taunt Styles' wife, who was in attendance. The Phenomenal One snapped and beat the heck out of Samoa Joe as the match ended in a disqualification.

The WWE Championship match at SummerSlam 2019 was pretty much the same with Kofi Kingston and Randy Orton taking up the roles of AJ Styles and Samoa Joe, respectively. The heel Orton taunted Kingston's family at ringside as the babyface lost his cool to commence a brawl.

The fans disliked the ending to the 2018 WWE Championship match hence, it was surprising to see WWE take the same route once again this year.
