Zhao had to grind out a 4-6, 7-5, 7-6(6) win over Maria Carle in the first round, while Jones beat third seed Nuria Parrizas Diaz 7-6(3), 6-1.

Neither player has played much on the WTA Tour so far this season, but the Canadian's significantly higher ranking gives her the edge and she should be able to book her place in the quarterfinals of the Copa Colsanitas.

#4. Laura Pigossi vs Natalija Stevanovic

Laura Pigossi will face Natalija Stevanovic in the second round of the Copa Colsanitas. It will be the first meeting between the two.

Pigossi thrashed Colombian wildcard Antonia Samudio 6-1, 6-0 in the first round, while Stevanovic beat Marina Bassols Rivera 7-6(1), 7-5.

The Brazilian has won just one out of two main-draw matches so far this season, having mostly competed in ITF tournaments and WTA Tour qualifying events. The same goes for Stevanovic, who is currently competing in her first main-draw tournament this season.

Pigossi is ranked 123 places higher than the Serb and will be favored to book her place in the quarterfinals of the Copa Colsanitas.
