5 stars Sting jumped to become the #1 Contender for the WWE World title

The Viper is calm these days

The VigilanteA few weeks before on RAW, Seth Rollins asked Triple H and Stephanie to add his name to the list of elites by unveiling his statue. The power couple agreed to this and the preparations were made.Just when the cloth that veiled the statue went up, the Barclays center erupted with 'Sting' chants. It was the 'Icon' that appeared out of nowhere and shocked everyone. After a long absence, Sting appeared in the squared circle and took out the Champion. He has stuck it to 'The Authority' again and gave a message by holding the WWE Championship signalling that he was on a mission to acquire the title. The same evening after RAW, an official announcement was made that Sting will fight Seth Rollins at the upcoming 'Night of Champions' PPV for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. As part of this slideshow, let us have a look at 5 potential superstars that deserved a shot at the title but Sting managed to skip past them and become the no 1 contender-

#5 Randy Orton

The Viper is calm these days

It would be surprising to see Randy in the list as he was away from the title scene for so long, but he was an obvious pick to be in this list.

Due to some professional reasons, the 'Viper' was temporarily sidelined from the main event scene and was involved in some mid-card level bouts. Let us not forget the fact that he was the first ever WWE World Heavyweight Champion. He enjoyed a decent title reign and represented the company for a good couple of months.

Orton would surely be back on the hunt for the title and let's see when the viper strikes again.

#4 Dean Ambrose

The Lunatic Fringe is the most over star at the moment

It doesn't matter if you like it or not, Ambrose is an obvious pick for the future to compete at the main event level for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. He was already given a couple of chances and Ambrose established the fact that he was ready to take up the challenge.

There were rumours that the 3 members of 'The Shield' will be competing in the main event at WrestleMania 32 for the big prize. If that is really the case, Ambrose needs a little push which should happen before the big event. Who else than Rollins could be a better opponent for Ambrose to start with?

#3 Roman Reigns

So close but yet so far

During the first few months of 2015, many experts speculated that Roman Reigns was the future for the WWE. Everything went as per plan until Royal Rumble. Reigns managed to win the Rumble match and earned a chance to main event WrestleMania 31.

But the way the WWE universe responded after Roman’s victory forced the company to change their plans. He was asked to face Bryan at Fast Lane and prove his mettle one last time and Roman successfully overcame that barrier.

At WrestleMania 31, Reigns put on a great fight and almost had the title won, but Rollins ruined his dream and became the Champ. Later, he got a couple of chances to prove his mettle but he couldn't because he never got a one-on-one Championship bout after WrestleMania.

All this means that Reigns needs to wait a lillte longer to get his hands on the Championship.

#2 John Cena

Cena settled for the US title rematch

It all seems that Cena's Mission-16 could be delayed. After all the mess that Jon Stewart created at SummerSlam and two weeks after the PPV, Cena asks for a re-match for the US title?

The company may be negotiating on this aspect of giving his 16th title win over a better opponent than Rollins. That could be the only plausible cause as this is sure to happen some day or other. So, let's see how long should Cena wait for his turn and keep his fingers crossed!

#1 Brock Lesnar

The Beast has been absent since SummerSlam

There is no one more eligible than Brock Lesnar to grab this opportunity. Lesnar was assaulted by Undertaker at SummerSlam and that cost him the match. Now that Undertaker will remain invisible for a few days, Lesnar should get his re-match.

It is a known fact that Lesnar would reach the pinnacle yet again but what matters is whether that would happen in the near future or WWE has any alternate plans. Keep guessing guys! You have all the weirdest possibilities to think about. But surely, Sting skipped a huge obstacle and earned his chance!
