Former France international fly-half David Skrela rejoined second division Colomiers from Top 14 giants Clermont on Wednesday, according to a source close to the buying club.

Alain Carre, president of Colomiers where Skrela began his career, refused to confirm whether the 33-year-old – capped 23 times from 2001 to 2011 – had signed with them, only commenting to AFP that “contacts had been made between the two parties”.

Skrela, son of former France international backrow forward and a former national coach Jean-Claude, joined Clermont at the beginning of last season after three seasons with Toulouse, with whom he won a third French title in 2011, having won his previous two with Stade Francais in 2004 and 2007.

Skrela’s last international appearance was in the 2011 World Cup – in which France lost in the final to the All Blacks – when he was injured in the pool match with Japan.
