Josh Allen pleads Micah Hyde for Bills return amid free agent safety's pending decision - "One more year"

Micah Hyde is still a free agent as of this month after leaving the Buffalo Bills, and he is running out of time to find a home. However, Bills QB Josh Allen, someone whom he knows very well, has vouched for a reunion.

During his annual charity softball game, Hyde expressed a desire to return to the team. Allen vouched for the same the same, leading the crowd in a chant addressed to Hyde:

"One more year!" One more year!" One more year!," Allen said.

A two-time All-Pro safety, Micah Hyde became a free agent in March of this year after playing out his contract with the defending AFC East champions. He had been expected to be among the casualties in a massive roster purge, but surprisingly, no one has signed him yet. His longtime Bills backfield partner Jordan Poyer joined the divisional rival Miami Dolphins.

Micah Hyde gets candid on potentially returning to the Bills

For Micah Hyde, there are only two options for his future: re-sign with the Bills or retire. Nothing else will satisfy him. He made that clear while promoting said softball game on Thursday.

But at the same time, he clarified that he was in no rush to make a decision that's best for his family:

“I’ve been an open book with Beane and Sean. Just got done talking to them. And we’re all on the same page. I’m 33 years old man. I want to have a healthy life. And my family is the most important thing to me," Hyde said.

In the meantime, he revealed that he had taken to working out and swimming at his San Diego home to remain in playing shape, and also joined a 10k run.

On the day of the game, Hyde was more open about what he wanted to happen in the future:

“I just want to be healthy... If there’s a case where I can get back on the football field, I would love to do it. Especially in this uniform, in front of these fans. It would mean the world to me and my family to be able to do that. But you know, it’s a ways away.”

Should Micah Hyde decide to return to Orchard Park, he will face competition from Damar Hamlin, Cam Lewis, rookie Cole Bishop, and free agent signing Mike Edwards.
