In the ONE Fight Night 18 main event, Russian grappling sensation Shamil Gasanov returned to the legendary Lumpinee Boxing Stadium determined to climb back into the featherweight MMA title picture. Standing in his way was South Korean standout Oh Ho Taek.

Looking light on his feet, Oh Ho Taek came out looking to put his striking skills on display early. As expected, Gasanov wasted no time shooting in for a takedown, working Oh down to the canvas within the opening minute. Gasanov took Oh’s back and briefly teased a rear-naked choke, but Oh managed to reverse the position and return to his feet.

However, it didn’t take long for Gasanov to regain control, working Oh back down to the mat and taking his back in the process.

After holding his own on the ground in the opening round, Gasanov largely dominated the grappling exchanges in the second stanza. With two minutes to go, Gasanov locked in a tight RNC, but Oh managed to turn over, relieving the pressure and gaining top control. Using it as an opportunity to get back on his feet, Oh failed to accomplish any notable offense before the end of the round.

Exhausted from 15 grueling minutes of grappling, Oh Ho Taek succumbed to the smothering attack of Shamil Gasanov and surrendered control to the Russian for the entirety of the final round.

Official Result: Shamil Gasanov defeated Oh Ho Taek via unanimous decision
