Joe Rogan gets candid about Tyson Fury "surviving the 9th round" against Oleksandr Usyk, calls for an immediate rematch

UFC commentator Joe Rogan gave his take on the epic heavyweight title clash between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk, praising both fighters for their performances.

Usyk and Fury met in a unification bout last Saturday in Saudi Arabia. Usyk, holding the WBA, IBF, and WBO titles, faced off against Fury, the WBC champion, in a bid to become the undisputed heavyweight champion.

The fight was a close contest, with Usyk landing some key shots early. Fury appeared to be gaining control, but the ninth round proved pivotal. Usyk landed a series of punches that sent Fury to the canvas, significantly impacting the fight's momentum.

Despite recovering, Fury couldn't overcome the momentum shift, and Usyk emerged victorious via a close split decision, unifying all four major heavyweight titles.

Rogan took to social media to applaud both fighters. He congratulated Usyk on becoming the undisputed champion while commending Fury's toughness, particularly for his recovery after the ninth-round knockdown.

He wrote:

Tyson Fury blames Russia-Ukraine war after losing split decision to Oleksandr Usyk

After suffering his first professional defeat in a split decision against Oleksandr Usyk, Tyson Fury has cast doubt on the result.

Following the close fight, Fury contested the scorecards in the post-fight octagon interview. Fury suggested that the ongoing war in Ukraine might have influenced the judges, with sympathy swaying the scorecards in the Ukrainian boxer’s favor.

‘The Gypsy King’ said:

"I believe I won that fight. I believe he won a few of the rounds, but I won a majority of them... We both put on a good fight, the best we could do. And you know, his country's at war. So, people are siding with a country at war. Make no mistake, I won that fight, in my opinion, and I will be back with our rematch clause."
