FULL TIME! Puneri Paltan 37 - 21 Patna Pirates

Puneri Paltan have advanced to the final of the tenth edition of Pro Kabaddi League and they've done it in some style! They were dominant right from the get-go and once they took the lead, there was no looking back. They were dominant right throughout the match and did not give the Pirates any opportunity at making a comeback. It was Aslam Inamdar and Pankaj Mohite who starred with 7 points each while Mohit Goyat chipped in with 4 points. Mohammadreza Shadloui was the star in the defense, snapping up 5 points while all the defenders contributed. In contrast, there was no significant contributions from the Pirates which helped their cause. They looked pretty beaten in the second half especially, where they just did not have any answers. They will look back on a wondrous campaign though which was largely successful while Puneri Paltan will certainly celebrate tonight! They are just one win away from laying their hands on the trophy! 

40' Both set of raiders run down the clock and Puneri Paltan are through to the FINAL of PKL 10! 

Puneri Paltan 37 - 21 Patna Pirates

39' Sudhakar with a quick kick and he sends back Gaurav Khatri from the right corner.

Do-or-die raid for the Puneri Paltan and Pankaj Mohite is sent in for it. He uses up some time following which, he has a go at the bonus. He is confident of it and returns. He's picked it up alright!

A diving ankle hold from Sanket Sawant from the left corner and Abinesh runs around in a flash for assistance!

Puneri Paltan 37 - 21 Patna Pirates

38' Do-or-die raid for the Puneri Paltan and Pankaj Mohite comes in for it. And it is his trademark kick that fetches him the point! Gets a kick on Mayur Kadam in the centre position, who acknowledges his Maharashtra teammate and returns.

Sudhakar M snaps up a bonus in front of the right corner. Shadloui puts in a pursuit but it is to no avail.

An advvance ankle hold attempted from Shadloui on Manjeet, who tumbles and returns. Shadloui was absolutely livid on Abinesh for not coming for assistance. No need for the Puneri Paltan to take any unnecessary risks here. And perhaps that's what the coach wants to convey as Puneri Paltan use their Team Timeout! 

Puneri Paltan 35 - 20 Patna Pirates

TEAM TIMEOUT - Patna Pirates! What does Narender Redhu and Anil Chaprana have to say to their boys? Can they still believe that they can make a comeback? 

36' Shadloui with his usual heroics! A solid ankle hold from him and Sandeep Kumar just surrenders. Shadloui gets up and acknowledges the crowd!

Puneri Paltan 34 - 18 Patna Pirates

34' Do-or-die raid for the Paltan and Pankaj Mohite strikes! Babu tries a surprise ankle hold from the right-in position but Pankaj shifts his momentum towards the mid-line and escapes in a flash!

SUPER RAID! Finally something to cheer for for the Pirates! Manjeet delivers a hefty blow in a do-or-die raid! And it is a three-pointer! Absolutely ploughs his way through to the mid-line as Gaurav Khatri, Aslam and Mohit run around to tackle him. However, Puneri Paltan review! They perhaps believed it was only two points but there were three clear touches there! The Super Raid stands!

Puneri Paltan 33 - 18 Patna Pirates

32' Shadloui runs around from the left corner and stops Sudhakar M in his tracks. Oh that was a tackle and a half!

Puneri Paltan 32 - 15 Patna Pirates

TIMEOUT! 

30' Gaurav Khatri is enticed into going for an advance ankle hold on Sudhakar M, who writhes his foot free and escapes.

A spitting toe-touch from Aslam Inamdar and it is Sandeep Kumar from the right-in position who is making his way back to the bench.

A reverse toe-touch from Sudhakar M and Aslam Inamdar has to go back, who was surprisingly playing the right corner position despite the presence of Gaurav Khatri on the mat!

Pankaj Mohite with a big blow! He picks up a bonus point and escapes from Mayur Kadam's block to return.

Puneri Paltan 31 - 15 Patna Pirates

28' Sandeep Kumar goes down courtesy of an ankle hold from Shadloui which is followed up with instant assistance from the covers.

Babu M tries a surprise double thigh hold on Aslam from the covers and the two collide head-on. However, Aslam manages to turn towards the mid-line and escape.

Puneri Paltan 28 - 13 Patna Pirates

26' ALL OUT! Sandeep Kumar is allowed the bonus point following which, a dash from Abinesh Nadarajan sends him packing! Another all out inflicted on the Pirates!

Puneri Paltan 26 - 13 Patna Pirates

24' Do-or-die raid for the Pirates and it is Sachin once again who comes in for it. And this time, he perishes! As soon as he tries a bonus point, a solid ankle hold from Mohit Goyat from the left-in position brings him down!

Do-or-die raid for the Puneri Paltan on the other side and Mohit Goyat shoulders responsibility! He goes deep and gets a touch on Mayur Kadam to reduce the Pirates down to one man!

Puneri Paltan 23 - 12 Patna Pirates

22' Do-or-die raid for the Pirates and Sachin comes in for it. As soon as he tries a running bonus, Mohit pounces at his ankles. However, Sachin drags himself back to the mid-line! Uh oh! Sachin is limping there! 

Do-or-die raid for the Paltan on the other side and Pankaj Mohite snaps up a point as a kick sends back Manjeet from the right-in position.

Puneri Paltan 21 - 12 Patna Pirates

HALF TIME! Puneri Paltan 20 - 11 Patna Pirates

At half time, it is the Puneri Paltan who have a commanding lead in this contest! The match started off pretty evenly for both teams, with both sides trading blows but once the Puneri Paltan got up and running, there was absolutely no stopping them! Some terrific raiding and defense from them sees them have a big 9-point lead! Aslam Inamdar leading from the front with 5 raid points while each of the Puneri Paltan defenders have at least a point! In contrast, the Pirates are relying on Sachin to rake in the points and he is lacking support. They need to go back to the drawing board and come out with a different strategy if they are to make a comeback here. Will Pune run away with the game or will there be a twist in the tale? Stick around to find out! 

20' Do-or-die raid for the Puneri Paltan and Aslam Inamdar strikes! Krishan tries an ankle hold while Babu M runs around for a dash. However, Aslam wrestles with them and turns and tumbles to cross the mid-line!

Sudhakar M almost makes it through as Shadloui runs around with a solid block while the rest of the defense pounces upon him to tackle him extremely close to the mid-line! Whew that was close!

Puneri Paltan 20 - 11 Patna Pirates

18' A running hand touch from Sachin and he sends back Aslam Inamdar from the right-in position. Mayur Kadam is hurt as he tries to escape a touch from Aslam in the prior raid. He has been substituted out and Sanjay comes in his place.

As soon as Manjeet tries a kick on Shadloui, it is Abinesh Nadarajan who runs around with a dash that sends him packing!

Puneri Paltan 17 - 11 Patna Pirates

16' Do-or-die raid for the Puneri paltan and Mohit Goyat comes in for it in a super tackle situation. And he strikes! He escapes from a jumpy Ankit's attempted ankle hold and returns! Patna are down to two men!

Sandeep Kumar is substituted in and he picks up a bonus point as the defense hangs back. Aslam puts in a quick raid and gets a touch on the right corner to reduce Patna down to one man!

ALL OUT! Sandeep Kumar is allowed the bonus following which, a dash from Abinesh Nadarajan sends him spiralling out of bounds!

Puneri Paltan 16 - 10 Patna Pirates

13' Krishan tries a diving ankle hold on Akash Shinde, who drags himself back to the mid-line.

Do-or-die raid for the Patna Pirates and Sachin shoulders responsibility. He escapes from Shadloui's ankle hold but the covers run around in a flash to stop him from getting there!

Puneri Paltan 11 - 8 Patna Pirates

TIMEOUT! 

10' Pankaj Mohite attempts a solo-tackle on Sachin, who tumbles and drags himself back to the mid-line. Pune down to three men!

A spitting kick from the substituted-in Akash Shinde on Manjeet in the right-in position sends him back to the bench.

Sudhakar M is tackled as the left corner chain runs around and puts in a block. Well, turns out he had already stepped into the lobby seeing the approaching players and is self out!

Puneri Paltan 9 - 8 Patna Pirates

8' Pankaj Mohite picks up a bonus point in front of the left-in defender. On the other side, Sudhakar M's speed causes Shadloui to lose balance and step into the lobby before a touch. He is self out!

A terrific ankle hold from Ankit Jaglan combined with support from the covers brings down Mohit Goyat.

Puneri Paltan 7 - 7 Patna Pirates

6' Babu M runs around for a dash on Aslam Inamdar but cannot send him out completely. Aslam's one foot still remains inside the lobby and he recovers from the dash and goes on to cross the mid-line. The referees take their time with the decision and finally, it is awarded to the Patna Pirates. Aslam is deemed to have been dashed out. However, he has picked up the bonus point.

Shadloui follows a running Manjeet and puts in a back hold as Sanket Sawant from the right-in goes for an ankle hold.

Puneri Paltan 6 - 5 Patna Pirates

4' Sachin runs striaght into the right corner chain led by Gaurav Khatri. He looks to return to the mid-line but Shadloui ensures his direction is changed and is brought down!

The Pirates respond immediately, bringing down Aslam! A double thigh hold by the centre defender Babu M and instant assistance proves to be Pune's skipper's downfall.

Shadloui was itching to get his first points and does it in style! An advance block as he runs around from the left corner and he sends back Sudhakar M! On the other side, it is Pankaj Mohite who is tackled by the Pirates defense, with the first touch coming from Krishan Dhull. 

Puneri Paltan 4 - 4 Patna Pirates

2' Aslam begins proceedings with a bonus point in front of the right corner. Sachin responds with a running bonus point in front of the covers. Sachin moves quickly and tags an advance Shadloui who gets sent to the bench. A flying hand-touch from Mohit fetches him a point as he sends back Krishan.

Right, both starting 7s are on expected lines, with both sides going in with their best line-ups. Promises to be a terrific contest! Stay tuned for the toss!

Hello and welcome to Sportskeeda's live coverage of the Pro Kabaddi League, 2023-24. We are into the second day of the playoffs and we have two absolute nail-biters lined-up and first up, it's the table-toppers Puneri Paltan will take on the Patna Pirates at the Gachibowli Indoor Stadium, Hyderabad. 

The Puneri Paltan have had a sensational campaign this season, and unlike last year, they are playing their strongest team who are fully fit. Being led by Aslam Inamdar in his debut season as captain, the Paltan have come out all guns blazing and have played an aggressive brand of kabaddi. They are perhaps the most aggressive side this season and have a terrific balance in the team, which few others can replicate. 

In their last few matches, the Paltan were seen caught in tricky situations, playing some young raiders. But the introduction of Mohit Goyat and Aslam Inamdar in the respective games saw the match completely turn around and the Paltan make stunning comebacks to win the matches. They will be coming in with a heap of confidence and will be hungry to finish what they couldn't last year. 

Patna Pirates, on the other hand, will be riding high on confidence after a sensational win against third-placed Dabang Delhi K.C. in the Eliminator. It was a closely-contested match but the Pirates just about managed to edge past Delhi in the dying moments of the contest. What will be a matter to be proud of for them would be the fact that it was a complete team effort, with no particular dependence being there on any player. 

Sachin will be hoping to score big in this crucial encounter but it will be up to the young defense of the Pirates to stop the dangerous raiding trio of the Paltan. Mayur Kadam, Babu M, Krishan and Ankit have an uphill task in front of them to keep the Paltan raiders down. Manjeet, Sudhakar and Sandeep Kumar will have to bring out their A-game if they are to support Sachin and take the Pirates into their fifth final.
