So that brings us to the end of a historic IPL match. Not many would have predicted a 500+ aggregate at the end of the day and for the fans and neutrals alike, it was something exhilarating to witness. The wicket kept getting better and better and sixes galore. Most sixes in any T20 cricket goes onto prove what just transpired today in Hyderabad. It was phenomenal to be part of the commentary panel to cover such a historic game. The IPL carnival goes on and it will be Rajasthan Royals who will square off against the Delhi Capitals tomorrow. Abhishek Sharma (Player of the Match): Even I said in the previous interview that it carries a lot of confidence. The momentum came from Mushtaq Ali only. The message to the batters has been to express themselves has worked for me. and that He is one of my favourite batters. My plan was simple, to go for it and with the message I was pretty much clear. No I guess it's more than good for me that I am getting a chance so I am open to bat anywhere. I think finally I have got a batting order right now. That's one thing I would. I got a chance to talk with Brian Lara yesterday. So that helped me a lot. In practice I prefer to bowl rather than bat. Trying my bowling as well.

Pat Cummins (Sunrisers Hyderabad captain): No I haven't. The ball was just pinging around. No until we bowled. It got a bit close to comfort. Just when they needed they fund boundaries but we finished it off pretty well. Abhishek has been pretty impressive. The freedom he has played around is quite astonishing with IPL being so much pressure. We want to be positive and be aggressive. We have an awesome batting line up and they showed it today. Trying to clear with the plans, Cutter started working towards the end. Yeah it was amazing, First home game here and the crowd as loud as I have seen here.

Mumbai Indians had no other option but to go after the bowlers from ball one and this was exactly what they did in the first three overs. Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan came out firing all cylinders and smashed 50 runs in the first 3 overs to set up the run chase for the rest of the batters. Ishan continued the onslaught with a six of Shahbaz of the first delivery of the 4th over before the left-arm spinner made the breakthrough. Rohit also fired all cylinders and smashed three sixes before his departure at the hands of Pat Cummins. However, the start was provided and it needed the impetus to carry on.

Two youngsters Tilak Verma and Naman Dhir batted brilliantly to turn the game on its head. The duo shared an 85-run stand in no time and all of a sudden it looked that MI could achieve the unthinkable. Naman Dhir was dismissed after a 14-ball 30 but Tilak kept plundering the bowlers to all parts of the park. Shahbaz Ahmed was at the receiving end of his onslaught. Hardik Pandya also started well by smashing a six and four of Markande but couldn't quite carry on the surge as Bhuvneshwar Kumar made a brilliant comeback in his second spell.

Tilak Verma was dismissed after scoring 62 but while Hardik and Tim David was out there, anything could have happened. However it was the return of the pacers which turned it around for SRH. Jaydev Unadkat and Pat Cummins bowled a couple of superb overs towards the end and once the boundaries dried up in those span of 12-14 deliveries, the required rate kept climbing at an alarming rate and it was just way too much in the end. Sixes galore all through the day and Tim David also had some fun. Romario Shepherd didn't want to miss out either as he smashed 15 off 6 deliveries as MI eventually fell short by 31 runs.

Travis Head: I am feeling good the batting team has done an exceptional job in the last two games. So much power in that group. Nice to contribute. We were pretty aggressive in the first game. This is what we want to do at the top. I felt that everyone at the top order flew through and then Klaasen did what he does so regularly. Nice blueprint for us going forward. Haven't spoken to TD. Just tried to sum up the conditions. Had to target every parts of the field. Happy how it worked out in the powerplay. They have got so much power as well. We knew if we could drag them back a bit. I feel we had enough in the end. Bhuvi and Jai did a brilliant job.

Hardik Pandya, Mumbai Indians captain: Wicket was good but 277, no matter how bad or good you bowl...when the opposition has scored that many, it means they have batted well. (On their bowling display) It was tough out there. Almost close to 500 runs were scored, that means the wicket was helping the batters. We could have done a few things here or there. We have a young bowling attack, not much experience but I liked what I saw tonight. (On more pressure being on captains with respect to time) When the ball goes into the crowd this much, it is definitely difficult to finish the overs on time. But all in all, everyone has to bowl in the same time so it is okay. (On the batting) Everyone, Tilak, Ro, Ishan, Tim, looked good. It is just a matter of time. If we can do a few things right, it will be alright. He (Maphaka) has a good heart. He backed his skill-set. He showed he had the skill-set and he just needs a bit of game-time.

It's not always that you end up scoring 246 and still lose by 31 runs but this was no ordinary match. Several records were broken in the last three and a half hours and at the end, it turns out to be a pretty comfortable victory for the Sunrisers Hyderabad. Their first game at home and yet again another team gets off the mark with a win in their backyard. The Mumbai Indians were in the game till the 15th over but some exceptional bowling from the SRH pacers helped them rest home the initiative and in the end, it was a mountain too steep to climb for the five time champions.
