Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 2 is almost here, and players are preparing to be dropped on what is said to be a futuristic island that will significantly transform the game. Loopers have been waiting for this update for months, and now that it has arrived, the final few hours of the current season are making them anxious.

The upcoming season promises some interesting new weaponry, an Attack on Titan collaboration, and a slew of new Augments that will be introduced to the game once the season launches on March 10, 2023.

However, leaks for the forthcoming season are already causing a social media frenzy as players may detect a Japanese themed island and their favorite POI from Chapter 1, Lucky Landing, which is expected to return. Also, numerous Battle Pass skins that players can earn across various tiers as they level up in the next Fortnite season have been released.

Among the leaks, one topic that has gamers scouring the internet for answers is whether there will be a live event to transition loopers from the current season to Season 2.

As the current season nears its conclusion, loopers will be disappointed to learn that they will not be treated to a live event. Because of this, Epic Games often spreads its seasonal live events over two seasons instead of developing a new one every season.

Without a live event, players are normally introduced to the new Fortnite season via a cinematic teaser and a Battle Pass trailer that explains the lore before they dive in. When the next update launches on March 10, loopers will once again receive two teasers detailing the effects of the continuing lore on the island and how they led to the second season of the futuristic Chapter 4.

Moreover, an ongoing in-game event related to the ongoing lore helps ease the transition. When completing story-related missions, players have been exposed to the Oathbound faction for the first time and its first two characters—The Ageless Champion and Rift Warden Stellan—in the current Chapter 4 Season 1.

Using Hologram Braziers, the players were able to communicate with Stellan throughout the season, and at his request, they constructed a Rift Gate that the mysterious "Shapeless Man" planned to use to travel through.

The Seven's A.I., AMIE, established communication with an entity on the opposite side of the rift as loopers built the gate, warning them that The Scientist and other members were in danger. So, loopers placed AMIE in a robotic body before sending it off the island in quest of The Seven.

Once AMIE left, Stellan kept working on the Rift Gate and eventually had one constructed on the island. He then briefed the loopers about his training as an Oathbound by the Shapeless Man and their plans for the gate.

As the Rift Gate finally collapsed under its own weight, a huge crimson rift opened up in the sky. Now, players can hop on the island and witness the phenomenon. Many loopers believe the new island features and POIs will make their way into Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 2 through this rift.

The downtime for Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 2 begins at 2 AM E.T. on March 10, 2023; however, the servers are speculated to go live at around 5 pm E.T. - 6 pm E.T. as that is usually the time loopers drop in towards the launch of a new season.
