By now, many Fortnite players are familiar with the viral meme in which someone asked their hypothetical audience if they wanted a $19 Fortnite card or not. It became the latest trend on many social media sites, mainly TikTok, where the audio became an instant hit.

The sound quickly got added to others, which made for more hilarious memes and prolonged the shelf life of the meme.

As with every viral meme, there is a person behind that. The man said:

"Ok $19 Fortnite card. Who wants it? And yes, I'm giving it away. Remember, share, share, share. And trolls, don't get blocked."

He may be better known for the meme, but he is still a man who has real, daily struggles. What happened to the 19 dollar Fortnite card guy?

What happened to the 19 dollar Fortnite card guy? His story explored

When the meme first went viral, many may not have realized that the person behind it was struggling. He was homeless, couldn't see his kids, had left his wife and was just having a very rough time in life.

However, thanks to the meme and the power of the internet, people raised money to help him out and he was able to get a place to live and have food on his plate.

As a result of the meme, he was also able to foray into content creation. This can be a lucrative field, though it hasn't exactly set the 19 dollar Fortnite card guy, also known as MrBlocku, up to never have to struggle again.

That good fortune didn't last forever. His living situation quickly became temporary, as the person helping him out kicked him out and delivered a racist remark, according to YouTuber Justicul.

He struggled with sobriety and employment and was homeless again. The community again stepped up to help him, as Justicul put it:

"I decided to change the title and thumbnail of that video [the original video from his channel discussing MrBlocku] and it started going completely viral.... over one million views. And fate's life was going to change forever."

As a result, GoFundMe and his CashApp started getting a lot more money. He also made money from TikTok live. Slowly, his life was turning around. Even then, his role as a public personality earned him a lot of hate.

He took a long break from content creation and evidently considered harming himself, as he told Justicul:

"You know when I took that break from TikTok and I wasn't posting? I was thinking about doing bad stuff to me, bro. Because all the people kept telling me, 'You asking little kids for stuff?' and 'You asking these people for this.'... That's all I kept seeing, bro."

He stayed strong and kept posting amidst the trolls and has so far kept his life in a more positive sense. He hasn't made it to where he'd like to be, but thanks to the Fortnite community, he's in a much better place.
