Danila "Malibuca'' Yakovenko is slowly climbing to the top of his game in Fortnite. He's been systematically winning competitive matches and prize pools with no signs of stopping. Looking at replays, it's safe to say that he is nearly impossible to beat in a match. While this may seem like sheer luck, there are a lot of factors that come into play.

Malibuca is nearly impossible to beat in a Fortnite match

1) Slow passive-aggressive start

The key to establishing a foothold during the early game in a Fortnite competitive match is to land in a safe place and gather loot. However, when it comes to Malibuca, things are done differently. Rather than gathering loot in peace, the first thing that he does is secure a weapon and force the opponent into retreating or holding.

When the opponent gets the upper hand, he returns to safety, collects materials, and bides his time, waiting for the perfect moment. When a third party arrives, he waits for one opponent to engage the other, and when the dust is about to settle, he makes his move.

With easy eliminations in the bag, Malibuca takes his sweet time re-farming for resources and moves to the next safe zone. This is when he showcases another amazing skill.

2) Smart use of materials and awareness of the type of material available in the area

Since Malibuca plays in the 'OG' Fortnite mode, materials and the ability to build are crucial to coming out on top of things. However, since there are three types of materials to choose from, replenishing them once used is not easy.

Certain places on the island have more wood than stone and metal, while it's the opposite elsewhere. As seen in the video, Malibuca is very aware of his surroundings and uses stone to build when coming under fire while sliding across the icy surface.

Since there are stones to harvest, the deficit of stone left in his inventory is minimal. It can be quickly harvested if and when needed. Although metal would be the better option, it's harder to come by. Thus, this technique ensures that materials are used as judicially as possible.

3) Pre-fight scouting through builds to look for opponents

When surrounded and flanked on all sides by opponents, editing a build to rush into the fray is not a viable option in Fortnite. Given the sheer volume of gunfire that will follow, it will be impossible to make it out alive.

For this reason, Malibuca takes a smarter approach to combat. He looks through his build towards the high ground to scout and ensure opponents are not eyeing him. If the coast is clear, he makes a run for it. As the video shows, instead of taking the shortest route to rotate, he goes through The Storm and around to reach his destination.

While it can be argued that it's possible to rush and stay safe by building, a lot of materials will be wasted. If the builds cannot stop the incoming fire, being eliminated in a competitive Fortnite match is all but a certainty.

4) Staying on the sidelines during the final zones and not rushing until the last moment

Another thing that Malibuca does to stay safe during the end-game phase of a Fortnite competitive match is to stay on the sidelines. Rather than chasing opponents around the map, he takes his time and scouts the sidelines to ensure he has an opening to rotate if needed.

Unlike most professional players, he doesn't rush until the very last moments of the match, and even when he does, it's done with careful planning. This ensures that his opponent has no chance or odds of making it out alive.
