How to get the Distant Roar spray in Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 1

Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 1 is almost over, with loopers working hard to complete their quests in order to obtain free rewards and complete the Battle Pass. The v23.50 update was released earlier this week, providing the community with brand new quests that can be completed to receive cosmetic items and additional XP as rewards which will help them progress faster.

Oathbound and Geralt of Rivia have been given new quests for loopers to complete, with free rewards being offered. Replacing the Most Wanted event questline is a set of Cipher quests that come in two forms - encrypted ones that require deciphering for cosmetic rewards, and unencrypted ones that reward XP upon completion.

Moreover, players are motivated to get the Distant Roar spray, which is one of the rewards from completing Encrypted Cipher quests in the questline. This cosmetic item features a dragon lizard wearing a jacket and chains, and it's speculated that this character will be released as a Battle Pass skin during Chapter 4 Season 2.

Complete the encrypted Cipher Quests in Fortnite to get the Distant Roar spray

To obtain the Distant Roar spray in Fortnite, players must first complete Stage 1 of Encrypted Cipher Quests. Doing so will enable them to progress to Stage 2 and receive the spray as a reward.

Here's how you can easily complete both these quests and receive your reward:

1) Open the Quests tab to check Stage 1 of the Encrypted Quest

Start off your Cipher Quest journey by accessing the Quests tab in the Fortnite lobby. You must then navigate to Encrypted Quests, where you'll find a code written with numbers that must be decoded.

Each number stands for a letter of the English alphabet, with 1 being A, 2 being B, and so on. However, these need to be subtracted from the code that's posted on the official Fortnite Twitter page to reveal the actual location.

Take, for instance, the first stage which reads 1.17.23.9.14 19.19.24.1.21.6; subtract it from the posted code 0.3.1.0.2.0.2.3, which translates to Anvil Square, indicating that you can complete this quest in Anvil Square by interacting with an object there.

2) Land at the garage in Anvil Square

Once you've jumped out of the Fortnite Battle Bus, make your way east to Anvil Square. You'll find a Dirt Bike garage in one of the buildings there; land and enter it to move forward with your quest.

3) Break the cabinet to descend to the secret room

When you proceed farther into the garage, you will notice a yellow cabinet adjacent to a tire rack. Use a pickaxe and break the cabinet to uncover a secret entrance with a descending stairway leading into a room. Walk down the stairs to uncover this hidden room.

4) Interact with the glowing item

Upon entering the room, you'll observe glowing waves near a table with communications equipment spread over it. Approach it and interact with the waves to decipher an incoming transmission, which will allow you to progress to the next step of your Encrypted Cipher Quests in Fortnite.

5) Head back to lobby and open your Quests tab to check the next stage

Once you've finished the first level of encrypted Cipher Quests, it's time to move on to the next one in order to obtain the Distant Roar spray. Return to the lobby and select the Quests option. There's a new encrypted code there: 19.19.19.1.27. 1.22. 22.16.15.10.20.21. 2.17.26.12, which translates to Spray at Splits Bowl.

Splits Bowl is a bowling alley in Faulty Splits, which also held a vault in the Most Wanted event, for those who are unfamiliar with the area. Players must go there and use a spray.

6) Head down the stairs in Splits Bowl to reach the vault area

When you arrive at Splits Bowl, go inside and descend the metal stairway towards the location where the vault was situated. You can also hire Joni The Red NPC, who roams the area, to guard you from any threats that you may encounter.

7) Open your emote wheel and use the Distant Roar spray

As soon as you reach the vault, get closer to the adjacent wall and activate your emote wheel. The Distant Roar spray will appear here and you must use it on the wall that's in front of you.

Your quest will be completed after you spray on the wall, and you will receive the free cosmetic reward that you can use in your Fortnite locker. This quest completes the first two stages of the Cipher Quests, which rewards you with free cosmetic sprays.
