Other than being a US resident, given below are the eligibility criteria to claim a refund from FTC:

  • Players who, between January 2017 and September 2022, were charged in-game currency for unwanted items.
  • Parents can submit an application if their child used their credit card in an unauthorized way between January 2017 and November 2018.
  • Others who had their accounts frozen after disputing wrongful charges with their credit card issuer between January 2017 and September 2022 may make a claim.

Visit the special Fortnite refund portal the FTC set up to get the refund process started. Here is the URL to this page: https://www.ftc.gov/fortnite. Click on "Apply for a Refund."

From this point on, there are two courses of action, depending on whether you have gotten an email. If you have, simply click on "Yes" and input the claim number provided in the email. If you click "No", the page will ask you to enter your Epic Account ID.

From the lobby in the game, open the main menu tab located in the left corner, symbolized by three blue bars. Open settings and select the "Account and Privacy" tab. You can find your Epic Account ID here.

You will be asked a series of questions on this page. While you may not be asked for supporting documents at the time, the FTC may ask for the documents at a later date, so it's best to answer these questions truthfully.

The FTC will get back to you at a later date if you are eligible for the refund. Moreover, the precise refund amount is not known yet. The ultimate refund sum will be decided by the FTC after consideration of all valid claims, which will probably be after January 2024.
