Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 1 is what the community considers to be peak gaming. With Unreal Engine 5.1 turning the island into a photogenic landscape, the Augment system introducing class mechanics, and general overall improvements, the game has never felt better. However, there's a lot more that can be done to add flavor to the gameplay.

For example, certain items and systems can be introduced or implemented in a better way to make the gaming experience seamless. Although most players are content with what's being offered, these changes may help entice more players to jump on the Battle Bus bandwagon.

Pump Shotguns and seven other things that need to be added to Fortnite Chapter 4

1) Exciting new exotic weapons

The types of exotic weapons available on the island in Fortnite haven't changed much over the years. For multiple seasons in a row, weapons such as Shadow Tracker and The Dub have been featured in-game.

While there is no doubt they are useful and well worth their weight in gold bars, they have become stale. Adding new types of exotic weapons to the loot pool may shake things up in a positive manner.

2) More vehicle types and mods

Ever since cars/trucks were added to the game in Chapter 2 Season 3, they haven't evolved much. They still look the same, and their functionality hasn't changed either. While Epic Games does rotate vehicles every now and then, having a new set of vehicles in the game as permanent fixtures will add diversity, something that's missing from mods as well.

There are two go-to vehicle mods in Fortnite Chapter 4: Cow Catcher and Chonker's Off-Road Tires. They both offer very good utility and can essentially change how a vehicle functions in the game. Adding a few more vehicle mods, such as fixed-turrets or boosters, would help add the variety needed to keep things fresh.

3) Refined Reality Augments

Reality Augments were added at the start of Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 1. In essence, they allow an individual player to assume a role or class during a match and excel at particular aspects such as supporting other teammates, being able to scout the area with ease, and/or becoming the squad's medic.

While Augments are already amazing and add a lot of value to the game, refining this system would be the next logical step for the developers. At the moment, the way Augments are obtained is random, which makes creating a solid build rather difficult. This dilutes the potential for players to adopt a specific playstyle for the duration of the match.

4) Medieval themed weapons

Bows were added back to Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 1 to add flavor to the medieval theme. New weapons such as the Shockwave Hammer and Ex-Caliber Rifle made their debuts as well. While these three weapons do represent the seasonal theme extremely well, they are a minority in the game.

Adding more medieval weapons such as swords, maces, spears, and crossbows would really spice things up in-game. The developers won't have to look far for inspiration, as many such weapons already exist in the Save The World mode. Importing a few from there would do the trick.

5) Mobility items/tools

There are currently four distinct mobility items/tools in Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 1: Shockwave Hammer, Launch Pad, Grappler Bow, and the Party Time Augment. These four allow players to move rapidly about the map and cover large areas with ease. However, they are rather limited in nature.

Given the terrain and layout of the land, items such as the Inflate-A-Bull and Grappler would add a lot of options for mobility in-game. This holds especially true in the snowy/icy biome, where players often slide/slip off high ground and fall to their death. If they have access to an Inflate-A-Bull or Grappler, instances of players getting eliminated after falling down will be less common.

6) Bring back snipers

Snipers made a comeback in Fortnite Chapter 3, and even though the community was still divided in how they felt about it, things were fine for the most part. Because of this, it's rather unclear why the developers chose to remove them again in Chapter 4.

While it can be argued that Bows function similarly to snipers, they are harder to master for most players. Given the draw time and thin line that showcases the trajectory, aiming down sight with a Bow is tough. That said, the developers should consider adding a classic sniper rifle back into the loot pool. Even a semi-automatic one will do.

7) First-person mode

The first-person mode has been a talking point in the Fortnite community for months on end now. While veteran leaker HYPEX did suggest that a new POV would be added to the game during Chapter 4, no timeline was mentioned.

Given the technical difficulties that have been plaguing gameplay this season, this could take some time. In all probability, the first-person mode may be ready by mid-2023 and will likely be added in at the start of Chapter 4 Season 3.

8) Pump Shotgun

The Pump Shotgun was last seen in-game during Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 6 and can also be found in Creative mode. What makes this weapon special is its status as an "OG" weapon. It's been around since the early days of the game, so using it during combat feels special.

While it can be argued that the Thunder Shotgun works similarly to the Pump Shotgun, it's just not the same thing. On that note, if their stats are similar, why not simply bring back the Pump Shotgun? If nothing else, Epic Games should add it back to the game and let players acquire it via Malfunctioning Vending Machines.
