Hitboxes in Fortnite are among the more controversial topics discussed by the player community. The debate involving them began in 2019 when gamers noticed that some in-game skins had thinner waistlines than others and took fewer hits than other cosmetic outfits.

This sparked a discussion that has been going on since regarding whether certain skins have a larger hitbox than others. A manifestation of this belief can be seen when players go for female outfits rather than male ones. This is due to the conclusion drawn by professionals that cosmetics of the former type have smaller hitboxes.

Although Epic Games claims that none of its in-game items offer a gameplay advantage, the playerbase has found some Fortnite skins that are too huge to survive around the island in and invite free kills from opponents. Here are the 10 items in the game that may have bigger hitboxes than others.

10 Fortnite skins that could have bigger hitboxes than others

10) Doom Slayer

One of the chunkiest Battle Pass outfits in Chapter 4 Season 1, Doom Slayer, was well received by the playerbase when it first arrived, entering the loop. However, the classic video game character's skin turned out to be much broader than expected and invited free kills from one's opponents.

While the outfit stays true to the Doom series and features several selectable styles, it might have a bigger hitbox than other video game-inspired cosmetics due to its heavy armor.

9) Venom

The Venom outfit was released in Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 4 and featured two selectable styles in the Marvel Symbiote. While the item looked similar to how the character looked in the comics, it was unusually big in size. Moreover, its Extreme style featured a more muscular body than the standard variant.

The outfit can have a bigger hitbox than other outfits due to its huge size. Another thing worth mentioning is that the symbiote strands that shoot out of the skin invite free eliminations from opponents and are easier to spot from far away.

8) Cluck

Cluck was released in Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 6 Battle Pass and was heavily praised by the community for its cute appearance. However, its size is surprisingly larger than other skins, which might also consist of a bigger hitbox on the eggshell wrapped around the waist. Furthermore, the outfit was remodeled similarly to the Guff outfit, another item that might have a larger hitbox.

7) Mecha Strike Commander

While the Mecha skin variants are always popular among the Fortnite community, the armor on them is easy to spot due to their large size. That said, the latest Mecha Strike Commander — which was part of June 2022's crew pack after the Collision live event — was remodeled after the original Mecha skin and may have a larger hitbox compared to recent skins in Fortnite.

6) Big Chuggus

The classic Big Chuggus is one of the largest Fortnite outfits and has been deemed "pay-to-lose" by the player community. This is due to its enormous muscle size and slurp tubes running all across the character's body. It is reasonable to believe that, due to its wider waistline, the item invites free kills across the Battle Royale island in Fortnite.

5) Iron Man Zero

Iron Man Zero was a bonus reward for those who bought all the issues of Fortnite X Zero War comics. It was later released as an Item Shop outfit in mid-2022. While the original Iron Man outfit was an instant hit in Chapter 2 Season 4 where it was a level 100 Battle Pass cosmetic, this version was larger and bulkier and was heavily criticized because of its size.

Moreover, the outfit could have a bigger hitbox than other skins as it features a wider Hulkbuster outfit. Its head and waistline features are seen to be more prominent than other cosmetics as well. The Iron Man Zero skin is easy to spot and won't help you survive.

4) Brutus

The Brutus skin was a part of the Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 2 Battle Pass and was relatively bigger in size than other outfits. However, it featured a henchman-style model that was more muscular than other standard skins without armor and might have a bigger hitbox than other cosmetics, making it easier to shoot at.

3) Gunnar

The Gunnar outfit is a henchman-style offering that was part of the IO Inquest set and released in Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 2 via its Battle Pass. It had various selectable styles, including a masked variant that resembled the Imagined Order boss roaming around the island in that season.

However, the outfit is larger in size than others and, as such, could feature a bigger hitbox. Moreover, the outfit had several layers of tactical equipment on it which made shooting players down easier.

2) Hulk

The recently released Hulk outfit in Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 1 stays true to the comics and brings the big green monster to the island in full rage mode. While the outfit is heavily appreciated by fans and players, the huge size of the skin might feature a bigger hitbox around its body, which can be easy to shoot at.

However, players are using it regardless of this fact and are often seen winning games with it. While the casual community can proudly wear this in their next Battle Royale match, the competitive side would rather not use it in their matches due to the larger hitbox it might have.

1) Thanos

The Mad Titan Thanos skin has been regarded as pay-to-lose several times by the playerbase due to its bulky armor and several points around the outfit that could have larger hitboxes than other skins that are currently in the game.

The heavy armor, Thanos' helmet, and the Infinity Gauntlet all add up to a heavier structure that is inaccurately larger than other Marvel outfits, and the body-to-head ratio is something that gamers are extremely critical about. While the skin is used by casual players, pros prefer not to use it in their matches in Fortnite Battle Royale.
