PSV rescue point with late goal away to struggling Heracles

Early Eredivisie leaders PSV Eindhoven travelled to Almelo on Saturday to face lowly Heracles hoping for three points to extend their advantage at the top of the table.

But they were a goal down after just six minutes when Heracles’s Lerin Duarte profited from sloppy play in the PSV defence to rifle the ball home.

The visitors’ best chance of the first half fell to Florian Jozefzoon whose shot on the half-hour was well-saved by Heracles goalkeeper Remko Pasveer.

Eight minutes after the break the hosts came within a whisker of extending their lead but Bryan Linssen’s superb curling effort came back off the Eindhoven crossbar.

A quarter of an hour later the woodwork came to PSV’s rescue again as Joshua Brenet turned the ball against his own post after a Linssen corner on the left.

Heracles looked well on their way to a shock win over their illustrious opponents but with just four minutes left PSV second half substitute Park Ji-Sung swivelled in the Heracles penalty area before scooping the ball past Pasveer.Rescuing a point for Eindhoven
