Arsenal hold fresh contract talks with 26-year-old star to reward him for his good performances this season - Reports

According to a report by the Daily Mail, Arsenal have opened negotiations with Gabriel Magalhaes over a new deal. The Brazilian defender has been a vital part of the Gunners' impressive season and they seem keen to extend his stay at the club.

The former Lile star initially had his contract extended in 2022 for five years but is now set for new negotiations two years later. The defender is half of the stingiest defensive pairing in the league and the Gunners will be keen to tie him down long term. He has helped Arsenal keep 13 clean sheets in 32 Premier League games this season and conceding just 26 goals.

While Gabriel was linked with an exit at the start of the season, he has established himself as a key part of how Arsenal look to play. Tying the Brazilian down to a new long-term contract would be part of the Gunners' transfer policy for the coming years. Martin Odegaard, Ben White, Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli, Takehiro Tomayasu, and his defensive Partner William Saliba have already extended at the club.

The reports suggest that initial discussions between the player and the club have gone well and an extension looks likely. Both parties will hope they can continue their partnership. Gabriel and Arsenal hope they can both lift the Premier League this season and many more trophies in the future.

Arsenal Boss Mikel Arteta on the Invincibles inspiring the team

Mikel Arteta has revealed that his side draws inspiration from the club's legendary Invincibles as they push for the Premier League title. The unbeaten Gunners side wrapped up their exploits 20 years ago and the North Londoners hope to celebrate the 20th anniversary of that league triumph with another.

The Spaniard said via Football.London:

"Well, I understand that, but that's not going to happen mathematically, even if we do win it. But there are moments, obviously, that are very important in our history and I am sure that a lot of players know about it. Certainly the staff and the ones that have been here long enough know about it. It's about making our own history now."

Arsenal currently sit at the top of the Premier League table while Manchester City are a point behind but have a game in hand. The Gunners are poised to see out the season in second place at the very least with Liverpool being three points behind them. The Gunners will, however, look to win the league and induct a new core of heroes into their illustrious fanlore.
