Manchester City v Real Madrid CF: Quarter-final Second Leg - UEFA Champions League 2023/24
Manchester City striker Erling Haaland

Manchester City will look to shake off their Champions League disappointment as they take on Chelsea in an FA Cup semi-final at Wembley on Saturday.

Manchester City and Chelsea will square off in arguably the most high-profile contest of the weekend. City's hopes of securing a historic successive continental treble perished at the hands of Real Madrid in midweek.

Having played out a 3-3 draw at the Santiago Bernabeu in the first leg of the quarter-finals, City were firm favourites to progress to the semis. However, Real Madrid managed to hold it together at the Etihad and eventually won the exhilarating contest on penalties.

Guardiola's men did not suffer from a dearth of chances. Their inability to put away some of the best opportunities of the game came to bite them in the back.

City can still retain two of their domestic trophies from last term, the FA Cup and the Premier League title and will look to bounce back strongly as they prepare for Saturday.

Meanwhile, Chelsea seem to be coming together as a unit now more than ever before. A mesmerising four-goal performance from Cole Palmer buoyed the Blues to a spectacular 6-0 win over Everton at Stamford Bridge last weekend.

Palmer has now equalled Erling Haaland's haul of 20 Premier League goals this season. The win over the Goodies has helped them slot into the ninth position in the table and Chelsea will be looking to spring a surprise on City this Saturday.

Manchester City vs Chelsea Prediction

This match is difficult to call because Chelsea have shown they can cause big teams problems. Manchester City could be in a sullen mood after their Champions League setback. However, with the sheer quality and depth that City have, they should be able to eke out a narrow win here.
