Barcelona might have won El Clasico in a thrilling manner against Real Madrid, but the fact remains that their midfield led by magician Andres Iniesta has failed to dominate and control possession like they used to in the last few matches. With Andres Iniesta now 32, a long-term replacement has been looked for actively by the Barcelona scouts this season and now latest reports from The Mirror claim that they are close to signing Tottenham superstar Christian Eriksen.
The Danish Playmaker has been in stunning form for Spurs especially in the latter half of the season and now Bartomeu is reportedly ready to greenlight a £55 million move for the talented 25-year-old.

While Denis Suarez was bought at the start of the season as an alternative to Iniesta, he has failed to live upto expectations. Also, with Barcelona’s long-term target Coutinho set to stay at Liverpool for the foreseeable future, the Blaugrana have now turned their attentions towards the Danish superstar.

Also, the same report goes on to say that Barcelona legend Michael Laudrup could be used to convince his fellow Dane to make a move to the Camp Nou. At 25, Eriksen is at the peak of his career and Barcelona are confident that the Tottenham star will get the best out of the ‘MSN’ trio next season.

Andres Iniesta has been absolutely amazing for Barcelona in the last decade, but the fact remains that his powers are on the wane. With Coutinho seemingly unavailable and Denis Suarez struggling, the signing of Christian Eriksen would prove to be perfect for the Catalan giants.
