Ajax won their 32nd Dutch league title in style on Sunday overwhelming Willem II Tilburg 5-0 in the penultimate match of the season.

Victory put Ajax onto 73 points four ahead of closest challenger PSV Eindhoven with just one game to play.

For Ajax coach Frank de Boer it was his third successive title to add to the five he won as an Ajax player in the 1990′s.

Ajax lost just two games all season, both of them to Vitesse Arnhem.

“I am extremely proud of this run of titles,” said a visibly emotional de Boer.

“I have emulated two of my illustrious predecessors Rinus Michels and Louis van Gaal. It is a very moving moment for me.

“I think our title was largely merited thanks to our consistency.”

De Boer, capped 112 times, is likely to be rewarded with a new contract that will see him tied to the club till 2017 although he said this week that he would like to coach them for at least 10 years.
