Nico Rosberg broke the status quo at Mercedes by taking pole position for the Spanish Grand Prix on Saturday. The German driver lapped the Circuit de Catalunya-Barcelona in 1:24.681, to beat teammate Lewis Hamilton by three tenths of a second. Sebastian Vettel qualified a distant third, with Valtteri Bottas was classified fourth in the lead Williams.The Spanish fan found a new hero in Carlos Sainz Jr who posted an excellent lap to qualify in fifth place, ahead of his highly rated teammate Max Verstappen.
