Sebastian Vettel insists he is not afraid of racing for the same team as Fernando Alonso

F1 Grand Prix of Brazil - Race

4-time world champion Sebastian Vettel has stated that he will not be averse to racing in the same team as Fernando Alonso or any of Formula 1s top drivers and has sent the rumour mills working overtime about his possible move to Ferrari in 2015.

The reigning world champion, who will be paired this year with Daniel Ricciardo at Red Bull, insists that he is not afraid to take on the challenge of being on the same team as a fellow title contender.

“Maybe someday I will be on the same team with Kimi or Fernando,” he told Sport Bild magazine.

“You always want to beat the strongest opponents, so I’m not afraid,” Vettel added.

Kimi Raikkonen, coming off the back of a two-year sabbatical and then two years with Lotus, has joined Ferrari for 2014, indicating that he is not threatened by Spaniard Alonso’s perceived dominance at the Prancing Horse.

Although Vettel has won 4 consecutive world championship titles, there still are talks going around in hushed voices around the Formula 1 circuit that the German is not quite as talented or technically good as Fernando Alonso.

Vettel has a contract with Red Bull Racing which runs till the end of 2015 but the 26-year old quadruple world champion might just be tempted to join Ferrari as he looks for a new challenge.
